What do the trips look like for a JR FO in ATLANTA for each of these AC? Thanks in advance!
You can (and should) check it out yourself, simply go to Delta Net, pull up the Feb. bid awards, "wide reports", scroll down to see what trips the bottom F/O's are flying, and which trips are left over in open time.

Or you can go directly to iCrew, "Open Time" and see what's in open time, that's the bottom stuff nobody wants....which is what the junior F/O's will be flying until they get senior enough to avoid it.

But if the question is, which airplane would you rather fly....well...there is no better flying/landing/stopping/going airplane than the 757-200. The 767 is fun too, but more like driving a Cadillac, vs. the Porsche that the 757 is when light. The 737 on the other hand...kind of like driving a Yugo.

I would love to do my own research...however, I don't have an INDOC date yet (anticipating 17Feb) and would love to have the knowledge before I select....I don't know how difficult it is to look this stuff up...I appreciate any/all help from all the knowledgable folks on here! Thanks again!

I live in NW FL and ATL is the goal, but given the choice I'd love to know the differences btw the 2 A/C... Thanks!

Alrighty then...

I just looked at the open time for both the ATL 767 and ATL 737.

The 767/757 has a whole bunch of 3 leg per day, ATL-Florida turns with 15hr. layovers, and a few Lagos trips on the ER.

The 737 has a bunch of Mexico City turns, also 2-3 leg days with longer legs, lots more west coast SFO/SJC stuff with 32 hour layovers.

Both have a lot of early sign ins, so if you are a commuter, you'd have to come in the night prior. Most get back by about 8pm, so you might be able to get home immediately.

I also checked the bottom line holder in each.

On the ATL 767, bottom line holder for Feb is 11261, bottom reserve is 12130.

On the ATL 737, bottom line holder for Feb is 12057, bottom reserve is 12122, which is 8 numbers SENIOR to the bottom 767 reserve.

Of course all these numbers are going to change every month with new hires going to both, and once that bid that was just run is filled out, thing are going to change again.

As soon as you have figured it out...it'll change again!

You can't really define it. On the whole, the ER and 737 do better trips than the 88 or 717 (unless you like high leg days and no flying out west). As a junior guy on both fleets, you'll do a little bit of everything. They both fly all over the U.S. and Latin America. The ER, of course, flys all over the world too. I'd say that the ER might have more maddogish trips domestically than the 737, but I haven't looked at the 737 lately.

If you want a big cockpit and to fly all over the world, bid the ER. Just know it's a shrinking fleet vs the 737 which is growing.

I'm on the ER and I love it. It's more work for a new hire, but manageable I'm sure. I liked the 737 too, other than the noisy and small cockpit. The 737 did a lot of the trips I liked doing, but cockpit size and joy of flying the 757/767 win out and I'm back on that fleet for a while.

737: "2 guys in a phone booth in a hurricane doing what 3 guys used to do in a 727."

Have you considered the mini-bus?

So, it's SFO for 32 or LOS for either 24-ish or eternity, if you're unlucky. RSW watching old people or ACC taking anti-malarials. If ACC, the Movenpick, right behind DL's hotel has a hopping bar scene, looks a lot like the Virginia Ave bar scene.

Friendlier, tho. I hove into the Movenpick ACC about midnight last June. Bar was packed, $20 cover charge, I just wanted a G&T. Rope Line Guy takes pity on only the white guy in sight and asks "what's your drink, Mon?" "Gin and Tonic, Sir". In a trice, out he comes with large one, never charged me, either. I did have to sit off the lobby, but that kept the "local talent" away. Win-Win, there.

I currently fly the 737 and agree with everything said above. As a matter of fact I was flying the 757/767 when I down-bid to the 737 and the cockpit of the 737 was the biggest negative that I had to overcome in my decision.

With that said however, I choose the 737 because I immediately enjoyed a huge bump in relative seniority. I have been very junior (plug) and now enjoy the best seniority I have ever had (Top 20%). It is like a different job. For me the increased seniority was, and is worth the pain of the 737 cockpit.

Domestically both fly similar type of trips, anywhere from trans-cons 1 leg per day, to 3 or 4 legs per day. Not sure how much (desirable) international flying you would see as a new guy on the ER.

When I bid the 737 there was a huge seniority difference - now the difference seems to be a lot less with new hires going to both.

Good Luck - Scoop
