YMMV
When you say "international reserve," do you mean both the 7ER and 765? I'm wondering why the junior 7ER FOs in ATL and NYC are 2014 hires, while the junior 765 FOs in those bases are 2000/2007 hires respectively. Is the 765 that much more desirable?

Compare the trips and pay rates and you will figure it out. 765 is pretty much all international and pays about $20 per hour more than the 7ER.

The 767ER category is 70% (or more) domestic 757 flying, lots of ATL-Florida shuttle, 4 legs a day, type flying. You have to be very senior in the category to consistently hold Europe trips.

The 767-400 flies 90% International trips, and pays more.

The -400 pays a lot more. It is a much more senior aircraft, and a completely 100% separate bid category. There is no mixed flying between -400 and anything else.

With the proverbial writing on the wall and my family able to re-locate and wants to avoid commuting at all costs, where do you recommend a youngish couple with a 2 yr old rent in NYC?

It would only be for a year.
School is not an issue.
We like the nightlife and outdoors recreation.....

But.....will be subsisting on first year pay. So we'll probably be eating Ramen and watching Hulu. I need to be able to get to all 3 airports, as well, right?

Still, it could (should? Would?) be fun to be New Yorkers for a year.

Are you looking solely within NYC city limits? Manhattan is gonna run you 2000-3000/mo for a one bedroom apt. 3500-6000/mo for a two bedroom.

Queens is more convenient to JFK and LGA. Bayside is a decent area with lots of rentals.

If you are willing to cross bridges($$$, traffic) you may do well in NJ or White Plains. If you aren't checkout Port Jefferson or Huntington Station on LI for house rentals.

Good luck.
