If you live in base, it could be a good deal though.

ghillis101, are there not seatlocks for newhires regardless of the new categories? Seems to defeat the logic, but I don't have time to look up the language in the contract.
Entry level pilots (newhires) get a 12 month category freeze on their initial equipment. A new category is one of the few times where a current category freeze does not prevent a pilot (newhire or otherwise) from being awarded an AE to a new piece of equipment that requires qualification training. Sections 22 G. and 22 A.7.c. have the applicable contract language.

The only thing is I could be held on the md88 for up 6+ months until they had to convert me?

Any idea what the schedule of classes is projected beyond October? 2 a month on average?

Tough break for the other 3 that didn't get the CJO....seems lately it's been 6/8, 7/8, etc. Of course in the past they have hired 0/8 and 8/8 and everything in between, so you never know.

You would be converted in seniority order amongst pilots who were awarded an AE to the same position on the same bid and no later than the end of the published conversion window for the bid son which you received the award.

It could come quick or it could take several months. Once per year the company can post a bid with a 365 day conversion window. The current bid is not one of those.

Thanks Hillbilly. In a perfect world I'd finish OE on the 88 and head right back to ATL for differences training, and be able to roll right in to 717 OE. Any word on when the base actually opens up?

I haven't seen which bid month they will open the NYC category, but I haven't looked very hard either.

I don't know exact class dates but I would guess 2-3 classes per month based on the projection of hiring 85 per month.

c. *spoilers, reverse, brakes

Leaning towards C, but not sure.

Also, for those that have already interviewed, are all the gouges out there pretty close to the test? Thx
Hi guys, Thanks for all the great info. Long time lurker, first time poster. I got the email for the interview (FINALLY!) and am scheduled in late october for the interview.

Quals:
8500 TT
4400 TPIC
3 internal LORs
Volunteer work
4 year degree
LOTS of job fairs

I went back on this thread about 300 pages and have been reading all night. I want to be as prepared as possible. I haven't received a specific gouge from Delta, just an outline of what I need to be studying. When I see questions posted like above, I wonder if I'm studying the correct things? I have Everything Explained, Mental math for pilots, ATP Written study guide, etc... Is there anywhere I can get specific things like the above quoted? Thanks again for everyones help. This thread is very helpful, and I'm looking forward to flying with you.

You're gonna love it at DAL. Rumor has it there's a Dropbox link floating around with everything you need to ace the interview. Rumor only.
