The only flak he got for it from me was the cavalier manner in which he claimed he didn't know if he wanted it or not until the last second and minor family things pushed him over the edge, etc. Dropping a kid off for his first day of school LOL yeah ok, that even enters the equation for a multimillion dollar career choice either way.
In the end, who cares? It's his life. No sour grapes here. Just waiting for your new TA to come so it drives the industry average higher for our jcba. It's just funny seeing the hubris of some of you.

So I get that.

I just didn't see a point in going on the interview and missing my sons first day of school if I was positive I did not want the job. Fortunately my decision has paid off thus far and I am extremely glad I made the decision I made. That could certainly change though. It could change tomorrow. It could change 10 years from now. All we can do is make a decision based on what we know today and hope for the best. I'm just happy so many of us have this decision to make today. It's a great time to be an airline pilot.
I agree 100% with that. And I for one am not offended in the slightest that you cancelled your interview and picked another path. I keep saying we will continue to see this increase as we flounder with a crappy expired TA, which will continue maybe for years, all while required hiring increases significantly.

I don't know where you are (someone said SW) but regardless there's reasons to choose any major over any other, and DL is used to being a tier one choice, but that is slipping in this environment. That's a paradigm shift many just aren't ready for.

Best of luck.

LOL dude what hubris?

I totally understand that some would choose other places and turn down a DL interview or class. I get it. And I predict it will not only occasionally happen, but will dramatically increase as long as we have a Ron Allen style "management" philosophy instead of a RA style leadership (though there may be a reason he's no longer there, as well ad the obviously crappy POSTA1.0, I don't know).

As for you guys, I'd worry WAY more about section 1 than section 3.

I apologize if these answers are hidden in the thread already, but going back several pages its all about the guy who turned down the interview, lol. A friend put a bug in my ear recently about DL. I live in AK and would like to continue that, my friend mentioned the DL commute is doable to SEA as he does. So now I'm looking.
Any word on:
1. Whats actually competitive?
2. The junior base?
3. Schedules commutable?

2,500TT
1,000+ AK
1,000+ Turb Multi
300 Turb Multi PIC
BS Aviation
Masters Aviation (4.0)

Much appreciated!

From 7 years worth of updating applications, networking, and perusing this and other sites in an attempt to get a call (I remember lear700 fondly), it would seem as if New York is, has been, and will always be the junior base. If memory serves, SEA is probably the most senior and will take years to hold. Your times look reasonable if you are prior military, but quite low if you are civilian only. The lowest civilian numbers I have seen are in the high 3000's with prior, non-flying military experience. Average seems to be about 7000-8000 for civilian guys. Commutability is subjective. Anything is commutable, although sime situations are less realistic than others. Good luck!

Times seem low, but details matter. And answer is no if you don't apply.

Above is spot on about NYC. SEA....sort of. While past performance does not guar, etc, currently you can get to SEA in less than a year, assuming you get right plane out of indoc. C series an open question, but appear to be heading to SEA in next 1-2 years. That will probably be a very junior category. So dreaming of Seattle is certainly reasonable.

C series will be very junior out of SEA by my guess. Also, guys around 6 months are getting awarded SEA on the 737

Currently a part 121 Captain
Former part 135 FO

Guys, I just got hired and am supposed to start INDOC on 26 Sep. The first two digits of my SSN are <10. I totally expect to be based out of JFK but hope to get SEA at the earliest opportunity. My question is: can a guy get based in SEA faster if he/she already has a 737 PIC type rating?

If no, what's a realistic timeline for either the 73 or C series out of SEATTLE.

Thanks.
