And what exactly can ALPA do? SkyWest doesn't want ALPA. That's what's going on here. Companies have a right to change their business model if they want to. And that would include their right to shut down any of their subsidiaries if they choose to, just as Delta did with Comair. ALPA cannot prevent that. It sucks, but it's just business. And another thing ALPA has no control of is where mainline decides to put it's regional lift

the HNL thing was some levity because you guys had been arguing about hats for 2 days.. the remarks from the bbq & a last night... are direct quotes.. they will be in the dtw crew room today... ask them yourself.. as someone who has been here for over 20 years.... I don't joke about possible layoffs/displacements... that schzit is sacred territory
9's to layoffs? I don't think were overstaffed at any position at 9e.
Again, I am a NEW hire. I didn't experience any of that, but I do know my place; and that complaining about 4+ months of reserve is nothing short of lunacy and deserves, if nothing else, a stranger on the internet telling you that you're an idiot.
Long time lurker here on apc. Just wanted to update anyone that cares, projected 4+ month reserve wait (after IOE not DOH) for a JFK line. The whole DGI thing seems more and more like a joke when you realize every captain you fly with has been turned down twice by mainline. The guys going to Delta in the coming months are certified a-wholes. The guys that have been here for years are disgruntled and the only "Delta" guarantee is that you'll be flying a plane with "Delta" painted on it. This place legitimately seemed like a good move to get into the 121 side of things but more and more if you can look past the smiles you'll see theres no real future here for anyone. It's sad that some of these colgan/pinnacle/mesaba guys are on the verge of tears when in cruise flight they talk about how long theyve been flying and how safe theyve been, and how they have a million applications out yet can't get a call from anyone. Least of which being the parent company. The hat issue is the cherry on top. Worst $100 I ever spent, it's a slap in the face and I can't bring myself to wear it in light of this company's colorful past and dim future.
Sorry if I sound like debbie downer. A lil bit disgruntled after I checked the mock bid......

Leave SkyWest out of this...they can run the regional world.

RG said basically the same thing in DTW today according to what I was told by someone who attended. Expansion coming later this summer and not in the form of 50 seaters. No other detail other than tail shuffling among the regional carriers and consolidation of flying.

You don't speak for the entire group, so your input is irrelevant. You are a broken record regarding pay. Satisfied being paid like a schmuck.

Nope, not at all. Believe it or not, you're not the only one that wants more unity. But how do we achieve it? That would answer my damn question....

Start by attacking ALPA. Airline profession...the only union position that doesn't give a rats arse about longevity. 20 plus years of dues and zero representation. False claims one pizza a year. The system is BROKEN
Make a stand, get Comaired.
Fragmented and just making it through for that Pie in the Sky. Do your time and get out. (Heard that before)
Look at how Delta treats it's ground and ramp personnel. Every few years they start a new company, fire everyone and rehire them. First year pay and benefits (if the new company has any)
They view Regionals the same way and do the same to us in different ways.
The company made up the rules and makes them and changes them at will.
The reason the majors have so much leverage is because there are a lot more of them and they are not expendable.
