I'm going to guess uncomfortable speaking about things they are not 100% certain about. Shifty eyes aren't always deception, it can also be uncertainty.

Very true, 2 bankruptcies don't do much for my trust factor with these guys

Well, with 20+ captains leaving per month I don't see how upgrades
will stop. I don't think we will be getting any new AC this year 2016.
Refurbish the ones we have Paint and interior. Reduce capacity of all
AC to allow for 1st class.

Yes, the 900 is larger, and has more excess power than the 200. Better pack performance. No biggie.

But while the 900 is "superior in every way", the 200 pilots are superior to the 900 ones, because they fly more when new, and have to become better at managing the flight with less of a power margin. FAs are also inherently attracted to the 200 pilots because they can sense the hidden ninja skills that the 200 pilots have but don't have to brag about in public.

But seriously... For me, when I chose the 200, it was due to great advice from a few guys on this forum, Ken being one of them. A jet is a jet. Unless it is a heavy/wide body , and you are flying internationally, of course. So even though I heard the 900 was a superior plane, I chose the 200 because of the movement, and am very glad I did. Just talked to a guy who graduated when I did, and I have almost twice the hours he does, even though his lines are more efficient. I held a line the first bid period after OE. He's looking at 2-3 more months of reserve. My goal was to get in and get as many hours as soon as I could, and the 200 was the way to achieve that goal (at that time), and probably will be for some time in this company, with as many senior 900 pilots as we have.

QOL, QOL, and QOL are the first three things you need to consider when looking at your future. If sitting on RSV in base is your goal, then the 900 will allow you to do that very well. If you want a line and to be flying, even in an under-powered jet (but still MAJORLY more powerful than most of the planes we flew in the past), then the 200 may well be your cuppa tea.

Good luck deciding.

Call me a guy who is boring and doesn't crave excitement, but I simply cannot see me ever sticking my dong in any APU. They all suck & blow, but not my equipment. Uh uh, no way.

Consider that the ISL is 129 peeps larger than 16-02, and we are upgrading FOs that have been here only 18 months (scary times ahead with HM CA/FO pairings become the norm). Growth has already happened. If it slows for a bit, we are still ahead of the game. From Jan 2014 to 2015, the pilot group remained almost the same size. 6 months later, it has increased by 129. Good times to be had by all.

In the end, it's the same type rating and eventually it will be dual-qual anyway.
I'm curious, with dual qual do we then have just one bid package per base?
