I haven't heard it, but it make sense. Brian B. Will probably be gone after Repubic exits bankruptcy. I'm sure he's looking like a good replacement based on how he turned Pinnacle/Endeavor around after that bankruptcy. Not sure why he'd want to leave the Delta side though.

Regarding choosing 900 vs 200:
You have to consider upgrade time as well. 6+ months of reserve (versus 2-3) means you've lost up to 150-200 hrs of block.. So you're hitting 1000 hrs of 121 3-6 months later than you would've been on the 200.
...And then when you do upgrade you have the choice of maybe getting a line on the -200 or sitting reserve forever on the -9.

I think the only people getting DTW are those are or are planning to live there...I think most commuters are smart enough to realize getting a line right away in NYC is better than commuting to reserve for 5-6 months in DTW. It will be interesting to see how the vacancies play out towards the beginning of 2017, I personally think the movement will begin again once NYC is fully built up and you'll start to see movement to DTW and MSP again.

For 200 v 900, it's all about what you want.
I figured when assigned my jet in newhire I'd stick with it for a year regardless. As I wasn't AQP, I went through recurrent around 6 months in, so doing 2 to 9 differences and being sent to MSP again for training wasn't appealing- more time off the line.
Sure 900 is more efficient scheduling wise, but I look at where I am on both lists and I come far ahead in QOL. 16 days off and weekends v 12 right now. Those days off allow you to pick up open time at 150% and earn more and fly more. Where is the break even? Depends on what you are looking for in your own life. I managed to get off reserve quickly, 2 months v 5-6 for a comparable 900 FO.
Add in the fact that in DTW and MSP the 900 is far more senior on the captain side, I figured I'd take an upgrade on the 200 sooner, so I didn't want jump from jet to jet. Perhaps not a big deal for some, but my personal preference.
Now, I have friends who swapped 2 to 9 and have no regrets. Fly what you want and enjoy it. Lots of movement to come next year and beyond.
Regarding (lack of?) upgrades on 16-05, -04 was barely a month ago and it seemed that 4 were planned for the year, so -05 might have just been a late "in addition to". Maybe they won't be at the rate we saw this year, but again, with hiring 2017 and beyond, upgrades should continue.

It should be said that reserve in both airframes is entirely dependent on where you are based. I know several new hires that went NYC 200 and never saw reserve. DTW 200 used to be 30-60 days but now it's 3-4 months. This is primarily due to the NYC build up but one could make the argument that you could hold a line faster on the 900 in DTW due to the FO's leaving/upgrading.
It's all a gamble in the end. A calculated gamble but nothing in this industry is ever 100%.
