What I find amazing is we only had 1 captain in October get the job offer with Delta/SSP. Am I missing something? 90% of the captains I fly with are absolutely great guys. I don't understand why the SSP numbers are so dang low. Congrats to the few guys who got the job!
Hahahaha almost. I think I have a good strategy of never using FLG or EDV in front of the number when calling ramp or ops. Just the actual number. I mean, they ain't ATC so they what do they know? Ha

In terms of pilot selection, delta really wants a particular type of candidate on paper. The actual caliber of professionalism and airmanship is actually vacated from their screening process. Ability to study and prepare for fabricated answers gets the job, in my opinion. Would you actually ask a delta captain to put his hat on whilst being a probie? The application must grab attention. Items such as college degrees, community support activities, etc. Again, this is my opinion backed with no factual references.

Although the historical references make up some of the negative thoughts as you say, the current environment still comes up short.

It's not taxed at that rate it's merely withheld at that rate and will be taxed at your applicable rate. Unless something has changed since I left you shouldn't have a 39% tax withholding rate on your bonus. The supplemental income withholding rate for employees making less than 1 million in supplemental income is 25%, it doesn't goto 39.6% until you make over a million in supplemental income. Even including the supplemental withholding for most states and other associated witholdings doesn't get you up to 39%. I guess the only other way would be the aggregate calculation method but I don't think Endeavor started using it nor do I think it would get most individuals up to 39+%.

Any reputable underwriter with a quality applicant will consider supplemental income for mortgages or other loans. They have to see 2 years of historical payments or a documented employer payment structure going forward. That's standard underwriting on conventional, FHA, VA, or even jumbo loans.

Uh... I don't care what Delta is planning to do or does in the future, it doesn't impact me anymore. I never called into question the accuracy of your reporting, I didn't say inaccurate facts I said negative facts, and it was in reference to you calling out the vocal minority for their negative thoughts. The "vocal minority" used facts to justify their views. Those facts happened to be both abundant and negative which holds far more weight than "negative thoughts" at least to me.

You can say the vocal minority has negative thoughts, but the facts are Endeavor has horrible reserve rules, no real career progression, a growing NYC base with parings that simply aren't commutable, horrible pass benefits compared to other wholly owned carriers, and fails to have a compensation package to makeup for those deficiencies.
Endeavor's reserve rules are industry standard for regional airlines though
they may utilize Ready Rsv above average.
SSP Endeavor success rate is 60% pass rate to Delta including pilots
with no PIC time.
Best nonrev benefits of DCI carriers.
First year New hire pay at least $60,000/yr.
So did you get fired or leave on your own?

ATL Ramp: "When did you change from Skywest to Endeavor?

Regarding SSP: I hate to say it but I wonder if some of this is self-fulfilling prophecy. A mentality I've encountered is "meh, I'm probably not going to get it, so I'm just going to wing it."

I know this doesn't describe the majority but i think it's a growing feeling.

Does anyone know about how many people flow from Endeavor to mainline each month? I have heard people say that it basically doesn't happen, and others say that it happens all the time.

My guess is that Delta doesn't like prospective pilots waiting until the last
day to apply and this is the result. It is way lower than the average. How
many were told to interview again in 6 month's?

The average is around 60% hire rate of SSP pilots that interviewed at Delta.
While some current SSPers are last minute, many are first time interviewees that are at the bottom of the SSP eligible list and have been patiently and eagerly waiting their turn. I know many worked really hard to prepare and still got the no. While I have some theories as to why the low pass rate may be happening more today than with the first groups of FOs, I will not voice many them here. But, back to the last minute guys. Wychor asked me personally why I waited so long for the SSP and seemed surprised when I said that it was my earliest opportunity. Could it be that that is how these last groups are being viewed regardless of it being there first opportunity? Who knows except those doing the vetting of us.
