As I said, JB’s slots and gates going to AA, in some cases going BACK to AA since they were originally obtained as a condition for allowing AA to do other things that reduced competitiveness in those hubs. But one of the fallouts of the COVID pandemic is the inability of the legacies to meet gate and slot ‘use it or lose it’ criteria DESPITE cycling RJs through their hubs. The waiver on that requirement has been extended what? Three times now? That’s not going to be extended forever.

But yes, manipulating RJ flying has been a legacy technique to keep a monopoly on their hubs for quite awhile now. Whether that will survive the COVID induced decrease in flying remains to be seen. And the JetBlue pilots are clearly aware of that.

Anyone know what the people who are always SCREAMING into their phones in Spanish during taxi in/out are talking about or why the JB FA's don't try to stop them?

This has always puzzled me greatly but I don't want to seem like a dick making a thread in the JB forum.

It’s pretty hilarious but it makes sense. They have to be off in airplane mode as soon as the door is closed at the gate. So taxi OUT they have to be off. Taxi in - it’s all ok. Because we are not about to be airborne and that’s where it matters and it DOES matter. Especially 5G.

Yes, it’s the rule, so I follow it, but no, it doesn’t matter in the least. I’m willing to bet half the phones in the cabin are left on all the way through the flight. Including the crew members’ phones...

Wait, I thought the whole point of Airplane Mode was to make your phone so you COULD use it on the plane! 🤣

No. I’m saying they don’t. Half is probably an exaggeration.
