So from what I read on here, y'all are hiring into the 175 and reserve time is short at DFW and will probably get shorter. So is the 2.5 upgrade and flow within 6 years realistic for somebody in my situation? I still have 23 years left and am trying to be patient but have no desire to commute for this airline again!!
Every person career is different. If you're thinking to make that move after 15yrs in ASA Xjet, you have to weight the pros and cons.

But, if you want to do it, be aware that 25 of the 26 guys hired Monday are going to the E175, they will be Sr for some time there. Once the last E-175 line holder gets into property, the guys on RSV will be there for long time. Also, nobody knows if there will be a Displacement Bid on the future and other FOs bump the guys in the 175 out of their seats. With the talks of opening a MIA base, they will need to move pilots around the system.

That could send those new E-175 FOs to the E145/CRJ ORD, and add their names to the commuter list.

Now in the other hand, we don't know what will happen with the Flow. It could take you 6yrs to get to AA or it could take the rest of your last 23yrs if your career. If you get to AA in 6yrs = 17yrs in AA, probably initially based in JFK or MIA (back to commuting again for some time). Even if it takes you 10yrs, you still have 13yrs making good money.

If I were new to the airlines or been about 1-2 yr regional pilot, I would definitely look at envoy. But 15yrs in, that's a though decision.

I thought Xjet had an guaranteed interview with UAL now. I would prepare for THAT. Next, choice would be Spirit or Envoy.

I know what you are getting at, but I don't think anyone would be at risk to get bumped out of DFW 175 at this point yet. Maybe down the road. We aren't even staffed for 1/3d of our E-175s yet, I don't have the exact FO numbers in front of me but I don't think we even have more than 80-90 FO's sent to it yet including new hires since some people just bid out of it, and 16 guys are leaving it for upgrade starting next month, then more will be leaving off the next vacancy. We need at least 200 FO's to minimum staff 40 of them. But you are right, if people wait too long to get hired, DFW 175 may be tougher to get or hold on too.

"IF" we get a MIA base and the next 20 go there (big "IF"), a bunch of the guys on the 175 I know actually live that way or still live in FL, since many of the 175 pilots are recently displaced out of NY and MIA, that is how they got into it in the first place. So they would just bid MIA voluntarily anyway, letting the people who wanted to stay in DFW stay.

Same as others are saying. With your experience, I would push hard for Spirit or SWA in DFW (first). Obviously you probably already know that. I would think you could get into Spirit if you did some job fairs. Me and another CA friend of mine went to the job fair and both got an interview invite, but we talked ourselves out of it due to the flow being so close for us and it was not what we wanted long term. If I didn't have the flow I would have definitely gone to Spirit in a heartbeat though if offered the job.

I think the upgrade/flow numbers are getting to be more realistic for someone hired today. When those numbers were introduced a year ago, it was pre-mature and not realistic yet. You can look up my post history and see the numbers posted of why I think so, based on how many we have to get through, and our hiring gaps, we have years with basically nobody hired which will jump the timeframe up when they are hit. 2001-2004 gap, 2012-2014, very little hiring. I have also posted the flow charts and numbers we have actually sent to AA if you want to look those up. Nothing is 100% guaranteed in this industry, as you know, but the flow has been moving 30/guys a month consistently now (877 guys have flowed since it started up again, despite all the doubters arguing against it on here), and the flow will pick up to full speed again after AA is done with their recalls after the Summer.

Is Xjet leaving DFW? I know they moved you guys over to the other side, but didn't know if you were leaving the base completely.

Reserve will be very short for the first guys hired into the 175. Everyone is highly skeptical about the 2.5 upgrade. Basically it won't happen in 2.5 years however it will come down to 3-4 years pretty soon. But 6 years for flow could happen.

Only on the LXJT side. LASA side doesn't.

Thanks for all the info. Mgt says they want to keep the AA flying at Dfw but they add the "we have to be able to staff it" caveat. They are basically terrified of ****ing delta off and having a repubic situation happen. So nothing official. Just trying to get plan B ready here cuz I don't want to do the atl commute ever again.

Thought about spirit but I read on their board that they have probably already hired their last captain unless a large order for aircraft is placed. Plus, id hate to be at the bottom of that list if another 9/11 or Great Recession hit. At least here there are about 1100 below me. Or God forbid they were to close shop at Dfw.

SWA would b good and my stuff is in. But at this point, it's gonna b like winning the lottery to get noticed there.

I figure envoy will always have a Dfw base. So that's one of the benefits for me. The difficulty would be the huge hit on pay.

Have you tried job fairs with WN? I think those help out with them.
