Tankers. I just looked up 121.436 and did not realize it had to be PIC mil so shouldn’t be a factor.

So I guess the question would be how long would it take for a new hire to hold ORD as FO and then as a Captain if trying upgrade as soon as possible? Should I still expect to spend a lot of time in LGA as CA or does that only effect those coming in with prior 121?

The last class had nearly half being ORD FO.

If you need to build the 1000 hours prior to upgrade you increase your chances of getting award CA other than LGA by virtue of all the forced upgrades of the new hires after you that have the required time for upgrade. It’s a double edged sword where the forced upgrades benefit some (the FO’s that need to build the 1000 hours and then upgrade), but not the forced upgrades who will be forced to commute to reserve for 12-24 months. That being said anyone joining company now knows what they’re getting themselves in for.

As for previous military hours here’s the reg itself;
For the purpose of satisfying the flight hour requirement in paragraph (a)(3) of this section, a pilot may credit 500 hours of military flight time obtained as pilot in command of a multiengine turbinepowered, fixed-wing airplane in an operation requiring more than one pilot.

Bit off topic, but does the FAA class V22 tilt-rotor time as?

Quick retention bonus question. Do they pay out quarterly like our performance bonuses or do we get them every 3 months from date of hire? I was hired last October so I'm wondering when I'll see my first one. January for this current 4th quarter or would it be November since my year was in October? Thanks.

I guess I should clarify what I was trying to ask. If I come in with 1000 121 or close to it and upgrade (yes I know I'll have to be in LGA initially, and would be fine flying a 145), how long would it take to be able to hold MIA as a CA. And if you come in with 1000 121 is it true they're gonna push you into the left seat right away? I'd want at least a little time in the airplane before taking command of it.

Really depends on how many FO’s ahead of you want MIA and trickle in above you once they uograde. I don’t think anyone will be able to give you an honest answer one way or another. You might just jag the base transfer, then again it could be 2-3 years depending on who keeps coming in above you as they upgrade.

Makes sense for sure. Was just trying to figure out how junior or senior it goes compared to the other bases for CAs. Second choice would be LGA but I wouldn't want ORD or DFW. I assume it'll be pretty easy to hold LGA as a CA if I couldn't hold MIA? I've got a pretty good deal where I'm at now and would only come over to Envoy if that pay rates actually went up, but am trying to figure out what would be in store for me as far as upgrading, QOL, and realistic base options.

LGA is the junior base. So LGA wouldn’t be a problem holding CA there. How long you sit on reserve there, that’s anyone’s guess.

Paid quarterly after the first year.
