OO and Republic are not my problem. How many 50 seat airplanes to those guys fly. Apples and Oranges my friend. More important to me is something that gets new guys in the door and puts some more in my hand at the same time. The pilot shortage is not going away, so our ability to negotiate isn't either. This is the right deal at the right time. Besides, there's probably some big deal coming that they needed us to get rid of an unsustainable LTD program to be considered for, and they threw some money at us to get rid of it (or to have a way to convert it into another similar program that someone else has that is more sustainable/compatible).

Uh, $40k signing bonuses pretty much removes your ability to negotiate for years to come.

You keep saying this but isnt it only a 3 year deal with the ability to start negotiations in 2 yrs, 3 mos?

But why would management need to? They'll have all the recruiting tools they need.

So does having ZERO new hires. Can’t have it both ways. Give the noobs some cheddar and get this place rolling in the right direction.

Pretty short-sighted. Industry-leading pay would attract new hires. This is just taking money of your pocket to pay people who don't work there.

Sort of agree. There should at least be a trigger where if the new hire bonus offering goes above a certain dollar amount (let's say 20 or 25 thousand), then we reopen section 6 or give some additional bonus to current pilots. Maybe I'll suggest that to the union, along with some other things.

The problem is there is nothing stopping them from signing a bonus type of agreement with a new hire before they are a pilot under the scope of the contract. If anything they negotiated the $40k most likely to “keep the peace.” Or so they don’t have to pay it out in a single check, but over time.

Keep in mind that by being owned by Inc, with a lower cost alter ego airline, there isn’t a lot of leverage. The evidence comes from the difference in 175s each Inc airline currently operates. Any extra leverage is probably coming from UAL getting nervous about the current xjt death spiral.

What you deceivingly didn't post is that C5 is paying captain rates for FOs. The reason for that is the real kicker. I wonder how long this will last.

C5's actual FO rates are similar to XJT's current rates.
I apologize if my post was deceptive, it was not my intention. The only thing I'm trying to state is that XJT pilots are, in my estimation, worth at least the pay rates I listed. If not more. The red ink specifically states FO Retention Pay. I thought that wouldn't be deceptive. When 5 to 10% of the C5 pilot group quit in a given month because of the abysmal treatment, garbage pay, and career stagnation they had to do the "captain pay" to keep people on property. If anything, XJT should be getting these rates for the 175 FO's. Why would XJT fly a 50% larger airplane for less? I guess I understand not wanting to lose your job but in this environment, I think XJT is too big to fail and could seriously raise the bar for themselves first and foremost and everyone else after that. Why take less? Would 20 EMB-175's really even make a dent for a pilot group the size of XJT? That's like 150 pilots worth of airplanes? Say UAL starts parking 50 seaters. Effectively they now need less pilots to move more bodies for the same pay?

Vote your conscience. I just want to encourage all of you guys to really give it some thought and make sure you feel like you shouldn't get more. I'm rooting for all of you. The sooner the price for regional pilots is too high to ignore, the sooner we can all get a seniority number and a paycheck that matches the paint on the airplane.
