It's all about payroll, not bodies. But I'm sure you know that.
Makes sense. Thanks for explaining it and not being sarcastic.

Said that more tongue-in-cheek than anything (about ALPA, getting furloughed). Just want a contract and don't want to get furloughed, that's all.

Where'd you get that quote, that's some good detective work! =P

I guess I don't know for sure, but I can't imagine why the company would pick up the tab when they aren't required to. I could probably go through and count how many folks are on full time ALP leave, but I'm lazy. Also, PBS builds schedules with pre-assigned ALPA credits - up to six hours a day. The Association is stuck with that bill. Add in all the Lawyers, Accountants and Research Analysts from National.

This is just what I've picked up over the years, I have no intimate knowledge and could be mistaken.

I can't imagine the company picking up the tab in negotiations, but I've been wrong before.

And you're right- its about amount of income produced vice bodies. I've seen the figures many times- from the days at a regional to recently... all of them showed the regionals in the red.
