More legs = less available duty = need more pilots to fly the allotted flying. They will attempt to mix them in the most efficient way to reduce the number of pilots they have to have on the roster.

FTDT really changes the game here. Before FTDT I would agree 100%.
Remember the time we tried to operate FAs on different schedules? We all had a lot of fun!

On the ERJ side they build pairings with the 135 and 145. Very rarely so you see any pairings with just the 135. They are too unproductive for the company to build that way. It requires more pilots.

I understand but the 135 and 145 only need one FA. The 200 uses one and the 700/900 use two. I think it would be so far over our schedulers heads to create trips that separate pilots and FAs. Our company has tried it before and failed.

Guys... Dual qual isn't rocket science. Many airlines do this everyday (i.e.Skywest, PSA, Delta etc). They have it figured out. FAs already work both.
This will suck for reserves in the short term, but if you've looked at the new rules, there isn't much they can really abuse them with.

Do your FAs use PBS? If not, that's the answer. Either way, it's not a mathematical impossibility. They will all qual all FAs. This is done in dozens of other airlines all the time with no problems.

So not to draw this out, where I was going with all this is that obviously it can be done. What will be interesting is to see it unfold between our incompetent management and our daily mess of an operation. Its not that its complex, its that its another moving part to our operation when we are already behind the ball. We've seen it done before with a grinding halt outcome.

Is the bid for the new bases, specifically DEN and MCI out? If it is out, how senior is it on the f/o side?
