This is the first time since the merger was announced that this forum hasn't made me want to throw up. FINALLY we are standing together. 5,000 stong, UNIFIED pilots. "No" to anything concessionary.

I am not understanding how were up against Skywest. Isn't their agreement with their pilot group that they just get ASA contract plus 1%?

If that is the case, it's actually ASA + 3% since they don't pay ALPA. On my last flight, each passenger paid me less than a buck apiece, and paid the Captain just over 2 bucks apiece. Our compensation is not the problem.

If management can't compete without concessions than they need to shut the place down. It will take at least two years to wind down and we'll all have jobs by then. If their cost structure is that bad, no amount of concessions will save this place anyhow. Ask Comair.
Shut it down. Max pay to the last day.

I said this on another thread but I think it applies here: Anyone who thinks our paychecks are the difference between a profit and a loss need to keep two things in mind: Southwest and Colgan. Southwest = some of the best compensated employees in the business and they make money hand over fist. Colgan had some of the worst compensated employees in the business and well...where are they now? Effective and efficient leadership is the multiplier that has a far greater impact on the bottom line than your or my paycheck. That is really about all there is too it. Until now, labor has been the low hanging fruit. It's been far easier to divide, conquer and beat us down than to make any meaningful gains to the overall efficiency of the operation. I hope that is starting to change

It's very important we all call our reps and tell them **** no to concessions. Don't let Joe Merchant be the only one they hear from!

Fine. Compare Southwest to anyone you want. Point is, you can pay your employees commensurate with their qualifications and experience AND make money. A fair, livable wage and profitability are not mutually exclusive. As soon as we can ALL tell management to look in the mirror next time they want to cut costs, the better off we will be. I, for one, am tired of watching this company fart away stupid amounts of money through mindless inefficiency and then they tell me I am the reason we aren't cost competitive. Just makes my blood boil.
