Does it matter. If passed, I am both. It's a big NO!

That's exactly what I mean…how are you both? How long ago were you hired?

What he's saying is that if this TA passes, because he's a reserve pilot, this new contract requires him to fly as both a captain and a first officer depending on the needs of the company, a HUGE concession.

Didn't know that he was a captain, I had thought he was an FO. Well that makes sense now. Thanks.

I don't see why that's a concession really?

I'm a reserve captain on the Erj side and we are already assigned to sit right seat on occasion. You still get paid as a captain so what different does it make?

I mean they're not going to do it often because they're paying a captain to an FO job.

As dumb as it sounds if your not in the "secret Facebook group for the TA" ask around for someone to invite you in...1040 strong already

They may not have done it often so far but when we start to run short on FO's due to not being able to fill classes, the company WILL use you for the full 20 hours they're allowed every month. I don't know about you but I like being home with my family every once in a while and with this provision, you'll be gone a LOT more. It's just another kick in the nuts to reserves, some of us who have already been getting kicked for several years now.

It's a concession for ASA side especially for F/O's who are close to upgrade.

We used to do this years ago. However, now that we might bring it back makes me, as a capt, to be available for right seat. This can mean the difference of going home are staying gone from RR or on call reserve. Trust me when I say they will max out that 20 hours as a first officer fill in.

It is cheaper to pay 3 captains to cover 60 hours of FO flying then to hire, train and pay 1 FO to cover that 60 hours. No training costs, no benefits, no vacation, no sick time, no healthcare costs. They will abuse reserve CA's. it works better financially.
