If the mainline caves why can't you guys refuse to fly the larger aircraft? Or did you just want the mainline group to do all the heavy lifting? I understand it's not easy! Good luck!

You're funny. What's your other option? Quit and be jobless? You aren't going to mainline because they gave up scope and don't need to hire anymore.

Line pilots don't get to pick what they fly. Management picks what we fly. While most of us, myself included, would prefer to fly for mainline, we can't until they call. They won't call until we have the right mix of recency and experience. If we quit we won't have recency, which means they won't call. See how that works? I you have a real suggestion that might work instead of this path that I happen to be on which has been successful for a few of thousand guys.

Here is what I don't get. On the LXJT side, we are all for the LASA side getting more aircraft and grow instead of aircraft going to Skywest or GoJet or whoever. But there are some that just want bad for the LXJT side, just because we don't want to give one penny of concessions.

I know it doesn't make sense to you!
Thats the problem!! I don't have an answer because there will always be someone to do the job for less than you! My point is, if we say NO to scope concessions, the 737 that I fly today maybe flown by ABC commuter airline tomorrow. In my day it was called NY Air!! (look up it's history.) My point that was lost on everyone is when I was in your position they were starting to bring up the concept of training contracts. I told my employer that I would not sign a training contract and that I would resign! Did I think my lone action would change anything? NO! But, I could look myself in the mirror and know I wasn't part of the problem!!
But, if EVERYONE said NO then things would change. Fortunately, I think things are beginning to change. I'm not posting this to make people mad, I'm just trying to get them to think out of the box.

As I stated above, I don't have an answer. Sorry! In the late 60's when they had a shortage of pilots United actually trained the pilots from 0 time!!!
Can you believe that! Anyway, not trying to beat you up just trying to give you a different prospective! 25 yrs ago 90% of the flying was done via Majors now it's about 60%. Yes, the Majors gave it up however, the Commuters picked it up!! So BOTH pilot groups are GUILTY!!
