That’s ENTIRELY possible, and quite likely......but I specifically heard “the deal is in place and they’re waiting for the UAL FAs to sign off on it”. If I had a dime for every time I have heard this rumor over the years.....I would be able to afford the toll booth in Blazing Saddles.

That is a pipe dream that will never happen. The UA flight attendants will not allow a wholly owned regional. It has been in their contract since the 80's I believe.
Look in loa 25 for the full language.

The FA union made some cash back in the day because UA bought Air whiskey at one point.

Already see a couple holes that could be flown through in that LOA. United/CAL Holdings is not listed in the LOA, who legally owns United so this wouldn't apply if XJT is bought by the holdings company. RJ flying is also not necessarily "flying historically performed by United FAs". Oh and I forgot who exactly it was but there were two regionals combined in the last decade that were placed under one holdings company to circumvent contracts. Anybody know who that was?

When did the ERJ/CRJ seniority list become combined?
Former ASA pilot here. Been out of the loop as far as what is happening with domestic airlines.
Sad to see what INC did to us. ASA was one of the best regionals (yes, I realize the oxymoron in that statement) for many years. We were not perfect, but a fairly decent place to make a living.

Same time as the DAL announcement. The company approached our unions about the elimination of the DAL service prior to the announcement, and fortunately, the LASA side has new union leadership that was able to work with the LXJT side, bury the hatchet if you will, and work out a combined seniority list. I think the hope was that it would entice enough CRJ pilots to transition over to the ERJ side and take on more UAL flying. Unfortunately, there has been a max exodus of pilots from the CRJ side since the announcement. It began with FO's who were looking at another 5+ years until they could upgrade, then captains, then senior captains. I just don't think anyone trusts management anymore. If you look at old Comair posts about the time they were shut down it is all eerily familiar.

ASA deserves a hell of a lot better. We did a real solid for a whole bunch of furloughed delta pilots after 9-11..... and we never went on strike.
Companies have cultures, and ASA had a very honorable one.
Real shame. karma is a two way street, tho. It always comes around.
