I'm pretty sure this whole thing is just one of managements wet dreams.

By the time a new hire gets thru training, we won't have anyone still on Cola 0. It's just a cute idea

I doubt you’d hear any COLA-0 guys complaining about new hires getting training pay. In this hypothetical scenario those junior new hire pilots won’t be undercutting the ability of the COLA-0 guys to get flight hours and the sooner they start bringing in new pilots, the sooner they shoot up the seniority list. Our current junior pilots could potentially go from zero time lines to hard lines in a short period of time. I say “bring it on” and put some cash in the pockets of COLA-0 guys ASAP.

You did see who appears to be winning the election, right? A national mask mandate is only the beginning. Follow that with an indefinite England-style lockdown, a more stringent FDA vaccine approval process and our careers are in the trash again. I see the expiration of LOA 23 just as likely to be a bloodbath as I do seeing it be a return to normalcy.

As long as republicans are holding the senate majority I don't believe it will be as much of a bloodbath as you may think when it comes to sweeping mandates. Remember, covid hysteria is about public perception and whatever changes Biden may make, no matter how small, will likely be exploited to show how great he is doing vs.the Trump administration. As long as CNN isn't constantly plastering the death ticker and gullible people aren't lead to believe that every time it clicks someone just died like The Hunger Games, hysteria will eventually begin to calm down. Combine that with ever increasing covid fatigue and even a limited use vaccine and I think we could be on the road to a reasonable recovery. Believe me... I'm no fan of Joe Biden, but I don't think him taking office will cause the covid related collapse that some people believe.

Not sure about an indefinite lockdown. And I suspect that Biden won't purposely delay the vaccine approval considering that he's going to want the best economic recovery possible

He can’t. He’s no longer employed here. He was “allowed to resign” just before his Probationary PC. Hence, why he’s complaining about the protections new hires have.

Just so there’s no confusion on protections, we had guys with over 20 sick calls on probation. Now back when I was hired (2006ish) nobody would call in sick on probation at ANY carrier without a doctors note. I had friends miss my wedding because of this. I’m not sure what happened to 1974 but I have to tell you I’m pretty sure they hosed himself/herself.

Pretty sure on what basis, sick calls? Or could it be you have a POS as a chief pilot, a base CP who is basically just a young little boy figurehead, and a union who basically did jack.

Just look at the way the contract is written, one year or first PC whichever comes LATER.

Don't assume things based on what happened to guys that had a lot of sick calls.

Ok. So what happened? One year or first pc is everywhere. Your not coming off probation without a pc. Why were your asked to resign? I know we had a guy that was back and forth on leaves based on chief pilot discretion language that had an issue. The problem you might have had is when your on a chief pilot discretion leave your not accruing longevity. Hence the pc then let go before 1 year longevity. I think I figured out who you are. Next time we can save your job if you don’t tell the chief pilot to F off in the disciplinarian hearing. That was really dumb.
