The annual system bid is going to be new to all of us. But my comprehension is: It may have multiple effective dates. If one of the effective dates is past your 1 year anniversary, you can be awarded the position for that effective date. I don’t know if they will let us pick our effective date. It’s possible there could be vacancies before your freeze is up but not after. The old adage applies. Bid for what you want, want what you bid.

Other than the CBA.
I kid, there’s a lot of different ways it COULD go. How it WILL, we shall see. We assume with lots of deliveries that there will be multiple effective dates. Could just have one at the end of the year. Especially in a slow or no growth year. Which is not next year. At least on paper, that is.

Can the company override seatlock if they need crews in a specific base? Or is it a CBA thing?
Would that be considered displacement?

With such a massive change I’m sure there will be guidance from the company and the union before the August bid.
It will also be open for 2 weeks so you will have plenty of time to ask questions and get answers.

2. Training and transfers shall occur within 120 days preceding the bid effective date.
I’ve read this sentence 100 times and interpreted it a few different ways.
One interpretation is that training or transfer has to occur by the 120th day prior to the effective date. So you’d have to be done with or at least start training by October for a 12/31/2020 effective date.
My other interpretation is that training cannot commence until you’re within 120 days of the bid effective date.
Either way I think this sentence requires multiple effective dates in the annual system bid.
