RIGHT
All this coming from a guy who does not work here.
I am with the others, if FA's can interview us, we better be able to interview them. Sometimes things are very one-sided here.
JetBlue is BIG on personality and I like that, but if we are going to be equal, we need to be equal.

I am not bitter nor have I applied at JetBlue. It's on the wrong side of the country. However, I find it laughable that you think I'm egotistical when you believe that you have the ability to evaluate a pilot's ability based on a verbal interview that lasts less than an hour. How does that work? In a normal day to day conversation most people can figure out whether or not an individual is honest, decent, and morally sound. An interview is not a normal conversation, especially a pilot interview. It's stressful. Human beings handle stress very differently. Can you tell the difference between the pilot who is stressed or trying to give an evasive answer? I seriously doubt it.
I stand by my original statement, FAs have no business being present during a pilot interview. Pilot's do not work for FAs. This process undermines the chain of command required on an aircraft. Additionally, it devalues the position and I personally believe that is why the management at JetBlue instituted it. I look forward to your well researched response.

You are just a regional guy... Want to move on? Better adjust your attitude. The major carrier pilots are working hard at shutting the door on the mistake (regionals).

You obviously don't know much about interview techniques or the JetBlue interview specifically. Do a little research, you might learn something. There are specific words and phrases that indicate untruthfulness. JetBlue interviewers have been trained to look for that sort of thing. You don't have to be a pilot to recognize huge egos either. In fact, a flight attendant may just be the perfect person to look for that.
Say what you will about the interview process here, but it does a pretty darn good job of hiring a specific type of person. Most of us fit together pretty well. I have yet to fly with someone that I wouldn't go get a beer with at the overnight. I'm not senior enough to fly with the "horrible hundred" though.

I lied through my teeth during the interview. Every single tmaat story was made up.
Bottom line is FAs dont belong in a pilot interview.
If they want to hire people and train them on your interview techniques they can hire pilots to do it. We dont cross interview rampers, gate agents, mechanics or FAs so why should they be in ours?

regardless of who interviews you, it's not technical. they are looking at your personality because they feel very strong about finding people that fit their culture. you should be able to sit down and have an HONEST conversation with anyone at this company. some people are good liers and slip through the cracks but for the most part their system seems to be working and I know a lot of great people that have made it.
I find it laughable that some of you are so offended by this. who cares whether or not they include FA's in the, again... none technical, interview proses. if you get an interview with jB, check your ego at the door.

Pilot hiring was run by a flight attendant from the airlines inception until 2010 or 2011. This flight attendant also conducted interviews. This same flight attendant was terminated and is now a hiring consultant for American. Flight attendants have conducted pilot interviews. Pilots have conducted flight attendant interviews. Wrong or right, like it or not that is what has transpired. For what it is worth the FA who ran the hiring program was a great individual. He is responsible for a great majority of the pilots at Jetblue.
In the end the background of the interview committee is important but more so their ability to hire employees who fit the airline. You aren't showing up at a Delta interview over a holiday wearing a holiday tie. Do that at Jetblue and its perceived differently.
