Business travel isn't going to come back quickly, and people don't want to spend on leisure travel if there are too many uncertainties or too few options. Taking a Covid test to go to Hawaii or Aruba is too much of a barrier for some people. Now you have to take one to get on a flight back home, and if you test positive... then what?
Travel ban is now back in place for non US citizens coming from 26 European countries. As a US citizen if you test positive you’re stuck outside the country. So you’re in Aruba and you spend what...another 2-3 grand to quarantine in your room for 2 weeks? What if one member of family is positive but others are not? Too many variables for the average Joe. I think this sends International travel to a screeching stop.

Ok you disagree with the 60% peak then say we ran about 60% schedule at best? That's exactly what I was saying, our scheduled flying peaked out at about 60%. I wasn't talking about load factor, but to address the load factor, 50 to 60% LF was not good BUT wasn't terrible considering the environment we are/were in. That was load factor without vaccine last year, I can only imagine both numbers (LF and scheduled flights) will be better this summer. I wouldn't say that's an unreasonable expectation.

I disagree with this specific statement. As softpayman pointed out, the sooner we reach herd immunity with vaccination, the sooner the restrictions can be lifted. So yes vaccination numbers ARE relevant when evaluating to lift restrictions.

The travel bans are never going to be lifted. The economy is never coming back.

Yes, that is common sense. Eventually there ought to be herd immunity to allow for ending the restrictions. That isn't my point.

The point is as long as the restrictions are in place--and actually NOW they are getting MORE restrictive--it doesn't matter if we are sticking needles in 1 person, 500k, or 1 million a day. People aren't going to book a trip if they need to take multiple tests and quarantine after their trip. Biden even said it's going to get worse before it gets better (I take him at his word that the government will make sure things get worse), so buckle up buttercup. If you think needles in arms means we are back to normal in 2021 you are delusional.

Well our most populous state (CA)just removed their fairly restrictive orders given a decrease in cases. Yep it’s odd timing but their stats don’t lie, they’re decreasing.

Why would places become more restrictive as cases lower? Between seasonality and vaccine it’ll head in that direction barring some weird variant that the vaccine doesn’t work on.

Every single Florida nursing home resident has now had the ability to be vaccinated. Every single one. Wether they chose to or not is unknown.

They account for 53% of the deaths.

Florida at large has vaccinated 22% of the population over 65. Along with the nursing homes together account for 83% of the deaths.

Remember this entire thing was “don’t kill my grandma”

Looks like we are moving the goal post again to nobody can ever die from Covid.

This is sort of my point. Everyone upthread thinks we are going to get back to normal shortly.

Vaccinations don't matter. Your perception of the pandemic doesn't matter. Travel restrictions matter. International travel was doing fairly well for us but thanks to these new restrictions it is f'kd for quite some time.

You guys can stick your head in the sand and tell yourself whatever you need to, but we are at the mercy of the politicians not the virus. ✌️

NY opening up. https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2021/01/25/...e-updates.html

CA opening up. https://abc7.com/southern-california...geles/10002822

Vax rolling out. What, like 100m+ more will be vaxxed by summer. Any high risk or frontline worker who wants it can basically get it now or soon. We should see deaths and hospitalizations decreases dramatically over the next few months. Jan/feb are trough months anyway. The worst is behind us covid wise.
