. First off, all threads on APC are belong to Delta… As someone who has contributed to the thread drift, I will try to keep my gripes to the other thread. If you're unemployed, at a regional, or live in one of our bases JB will likely be a good move for you, and for those waiting to start I think you'll find the training experience enjoyable. I don't quite understand why we're training in such a trickle; although we are barely adequately staffed now there should be an upcoming bubble with the new jets coming. That having been said, I'm sorry you all have had to swim so long and hopefully we will get y'all dried off soon. We do need the bodies! Check the other thread for the gripes and grievances, and please keep eyes and ears open when you get here. Despite the tone, remember we growl on the Internet just like any pilots do. On the line things are much more civilized.

If you are wondering why you were number 1 or 2 and you didn't get a call, I'd say this has something to do with it. Sounds like they interviewed way after you and from what I hear, are starting class in September.....
HYANNIS, Mass., Aug. 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- A four way collaboration with JetBlue Airways, Cape Air, the University of North Dakota (UND) and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) has paid off for two Captains joining JetBlue's flight crew as First Officers. Cape Air Captains Shanti Merriman and Daniel Thurber, both Embry-Riddle graduates, successfully passed the JetBlue interview process and report for duty in a few weeks.
"I congratulate our first Gateway graduates," says Cape Air President Dave Bushy. "With their undergraduate work at Embry Riddle University, flight training experience in both aircraft and simulators and some of the best flying in the world with Cape Air, the largest independent regional airline in the United States, these Gateway graduates are among some of the best trained pilots and experienced in the country. With this program, pilots from Embry Riddle and University of North Dakota – two of the premier aviation universities in the country – have easy access to a highly effective path, with carefully chosen partners that are evaluated for safety, operations and experience, giving these Captains a solid and outstanding start with a major airline."
The Gateway Program, one of the first of its kind in the country, began four years ago as a pipeline for pilots with clearly delineated steps taking young pilots from Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI) programs, internships at Cape Air or JetBlue and undergraduate work with experience as flight instructors, followed by hands-on flying experience with Cape Air. The last step in the process is an interview at JetBlue with the ultimate goal of placement in a training slot as a JetBlue First Officer.
Cape Air currently has some 80 other aviators in the JetBlue University Gateway program and expects to accept more into the program as both airlines jointly interview pilots at UND and ERAU in the next two months.

and better yet they are jointly interviewing in the next two months...read the last lines. Hate to be the bearer of not so good news, I know a few of the peeps in the pool you all may know have gotten calls, but from the looks of this article, they are going to integrate hiring between the "freshly" interviewed and you all treading water. If I were you guys, I'd be making some calls or sending some emails to your supposed "lifeguard".

The way I read this that they are interviewing college students to enter the gateway program, not for first officer slots with Jetblue.

Everybody calm down. The sky is not falling. These people first interviewed years ago.
The Cape Air JetBlue University Gateway Program continues to grow each year as we accept new students from our partnering universities the University of North Dakota and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. This program is a unique career pathway giving students the opportunity to obtain the skills and experience necessary to eventually become a pilot for JetBlue.
There are a number of steps that a student must complete in order to be eligible for a final interview at JetBlue. These steps include:
• an interview with Cape air and JetBlue as a sophomore or junior at our partner Universities
• an internship with Cape Air
• graduate from an AABI accredited program
• flight Instruction at the University
• flying as a Captain at Cape Air for approximately 2-3 years.
JetBlue and Cape Air conduct interviews and information sessions on each campus every fall for the Gateway Program. As a part of the gateway program, Cape Air is able to offer a limited number of internship opportunities.
If there are any open internship positions not filled by Gateway Students, we will be able to make them available to students outside this program at other Universities.

Big movement? I hope so! PM me with what youve heard please.
If other airlines start hiring there should be some movement. If AA is allowed to cancel their pilots contract, JetBlue may benefit from domestic codeshare at the cost of AA jobs.(That would suck!)
Other wise we are set to grow at 6-8% ASM. That is the big key. ASM. Remember we are taking larger A/C that increase ASM without increasing staffing at a proportional rate.
Even if it is 6-8% that is about 130-180 pilots which is line with what I have heard.

Based on the info I got from the "lifeguard," my spot hasn't changed much if at all based on what I was told earlier. If you take one class a month of 5 in each class, my number would come up about when they told me I'd be getting a call next year.
