I agree, it isn't worth much. However, it is still a type rating. If it says ERJ170 on my license it is still a type rating just not PIC qualified.

According to FAA, your A320, e170, etc. is type rating; it may have restrictions on the bottom of certificate such as a320 e170 sic only, cir appr VMC only, etc.
Log in to iacra and click on your type certificates.
How usefull those sic types are is another thing.
For first wave of pilots for legacies pic will make all the difference as well as contacts and LOR.

The FAA gives SIC "type ratings" for the purpose of meeting ICAO requirements on international flights but based on the NPRM testimony they agreed to comply with the ICAO requirements on both domestic and international flying. Again, an SIC type means very little.

Good description!! A type rating it is no matter how valued it is. And we all understand that ICAO requires it for international ops. Now on to more important info!

What a ridiculous conversation. An SIC type rating is worthless, and not even worth mentioning.

Now back to JetBlue being a Chinese sneaker factory.

Neither is a chinese sneaker factory yet here we are. The misinformation that JetBlue does not type their pilots is what is at question. When you complete your initial training at JB your last Loft session is a certificate ride even as an SIC. The value of an SIC type is not whats at question (that is to say one may not value an SIC type but another person may).

Every airline, regionals included is now required to sic type fo's, which requires no additional training from what they used to do before the rule....

It is worthless. When discussing whether or not an airline types an FO, it is CLEARLY in the context of a PIC type, the only one that matters.

What a waste of time.

A type rating is a type rating, stop slueing misinformation and the conversation will be over. Certificate action equals type rating, that is the fact. PIC, SIC it doesn't matter because they are restrictions to a type, the value of the type is personal. You obviously don't care about it but to someone else it might. If someone asks me how many types I have I include my E170 in that count. Only you assumed that the question is about A PIC type. You Know what they say about assumptions. This forum is to help pass along information to new hire/poolies, not for your political views (chinese shoe factory) on JB there are plenty of other forums for that. If it is a waste of time that dont read/contribute to this forum.

All FO's going through A330 training at Delta get a full type rating including a LOFT. What they don't get is OE and a Line Check so they cannot be in the left seat for T/O or landing but can be there in cruise with another FO in the right seat.
