The two guys that got moved up came out of "the University Gateway program" thru a couple of select universities, then internshiped or worked here at JB throught various departments. Then they went to Cape Air to get there TT up, came back interviewed and got the job. It is an established program that JB has had for a couple of years, there has only been a hand full of of pilots that have gone this routeup til now but there are quit a few in the pipeline. That was what I was told from Boston assistant CP.

Yes, it was but according to assistant CP they have been grooming these guys for a couple of years now. The first one was hired last year and there are two in the pool from this gateway. The first person was not officially from this gateway but got the same preferential treatment. Apparently there are many more in the pipeline. Actually i just found out (5 minutes ago when I brought this up to my crew) that one of our flight Attendents on my trip came from this program and he is going to Cape Air in the next couple of months.

The program is ERAU/UND -> intern at B6 -> CFI -> Cape Air -> B6 FO right?

Where or how does being an FA fit in to that scenario? Was he/she an ERAU/UND grad and CFI? I'm confused.

There is another Gateway where non-flying employees can get interviewed without meeting min requirements, then take a leave from working at jetblue to build flight time wherever, then come back and be a B6 FO

I didn't ask him where he went to school. He said he is part of the university gateway program he has worked in multiple departments in his service here. I first meet him down at JBU during reccurent in June (I didn't know until yesterday that he was part of this university gateway.) he works down there as well he also said he has put in some time in Forest Hills. It sounds like they have a plan on what they want to see these people do to meet the qualifications of the program. He said he has done all the requirements and it is time for him to move on to Cape Air to get his tt up.

Why JB choose CapeAir, there are plenty of Regional Airlines with jets out there?
How is flying C-402, an experience that fits our needs for pilot qualification? Why are we hiring gateway candidates now, when we can select the best qualified pilots from the pool?
It's obvious what JB management is doing, hire pilots without experience, so they stay much longer then qualified ones.

I'm qualified, HS 125,B727,B737,B767 lots of PIC jet time, and I plan on finishing my career here, that is, if I ever get out of the pool. Been a rough 3.5 years for me. I'm tired of change! Seems every time I settle in, my horse gets shot out from under me...just when your on top of the World. Since the furlough in June, I'm back flying the little toy jets, pays the bills, but want the structured world of 121. Also tired of the job hunt/interview game.

Not a juice drinker, just will be grateful to have a decent job to finish my career. I could be wrong, but I feel that jetBlue will experience growth in the future.

The people dept. is afraid of a 2007 style pilots leaving in droves. Many with recall #'s took them. Many to DAL and SWA. I think we lost nearly 10%."that's not susstainable". You can't "grow organically" by 6-8% and lose 8-10% at the same time. The school house does a good job, but they're not that good.

The demographic they are looking for is greatful to have a job and be flying... even if it's at a discount.

Most of us are greatful to have a good job, but are tired of being told we're the best only to work for pennies on the dollar.
