Maybe I missed it... R-ATPs eligible? I'm doubting the ability of regionals to actually provide class dates at this point.

Heard from someone that tips for anything are not reimbursed and has to come out of pilots pay? That is not really true is it? This guy said that everytime he tips an uber driver or cab the tip gets taken out of his paycheck

that’s correct. They expect you to use per diem for tipping.

Yep, that’s true. That along with parking reimbursement are items that they still need to address…

Talk about not getting ahead of the problem.

Why are the owners, be they public and private companies, paying these management teams that are so consistently behind the trends? You would think the nickel-and-dime might stop with hiring being what it is, although I suppose many of these more experienced teams on the management side are thinking business is going to slow. Slower top line growth will still not fix the hiring scene for them however.

NetJets and other quality outfits have covered tipping for a decade or more, even if they have failed to police the poaching that goes on when the crews steal the money. At least try to care.

Great point about Netjets tipping after a while.. They didn’t start covering tips initially and neither have we yet.. Not defending it, but asking that you understand that we are a 7.5 year old Company. In 2002, after my airline’s first furlough, Executive jet ( a little older than we are now), was the only place hiring after 9/11 and the pay and conditions were terrible. You had to be in base 12 hours in advance and there were only 5 bases. Oh, and starting pay was $35,000 for an Ultra Captain…. 20 years isn’t that long ago when considering that $35K isn’t a lot of money. All my friends hired there were desperately trying to get back to us in 121, but fortunately we never recalled them and they are now laughing at the world. Thank goodness for all of us when they knocked it out of the ballpark with their 2005 CBA!

It is true that we are behind Netjets and others with pay, benefits, etc., but if you look at the perspective of us only starting in 2015 and now one of the largest Part 135 companies I think that you will agree that we have done amazing things in our short 7.5 years. Also, we have the fastest upgrades in the Industry, mainly attributed to growth and our attrition is mainly to the Legacies (not LCCs or ULCCs) and some of the younger pilots to Netjets looking for the benefits that you mentioned. SWA didn’t start out with the best pay either and I had friends leaving there and US in droves to go to the “Majors”…. You just never know.

Yeah, I dont know why, since they pay for Ubers and Lyfts, they dont say an additional 15% or 20% tip will be reimbursed. I get the reason they stopped covering tips was because people were probably over-tipping and it got out of control. I dont mind tipping the line guys out of my pocket as that money typically comes out of tips that I am making but Ubers and Lyfts, doesnt make sense.

Yeah, I agree.. But I don’t think that they have ever covered tips.. For a while, we had one of the highest per diems, but that was 1.5 years ago. Hopefully, they address this soon along with airport parking. Definitely not a deal breaker for me, though.

FE is often compared to NJ and Flex, curious what Wheels Up does in regards to per diem, tipping, pay scale, and in general how there QOL compares to FE.
