My FO on my current trip told me he has a buddy from an early March class that just got a sim date on July 2.
I believe they were the last 200 class in march. The waited very long for the oral and now the sim . The 2 classes ahead started and finished sim on the 700 by end end of june. I am waiting for differences, but I assume it will be a while since all the captain's upgrade happening plus this class being schedule on the 2 of July will keep the sim busy in Cincinnati.

While I can understand someone bypassing upgrade to avoid reserve, you are way off the mark if you think there is a substantial difference in qol between an fo at the top of the fo seniority list in round 1 and a captain at the bottom of the captain seniority list in round 1; both have access to the SAP and that is all you need. This is partly why the SAP and qol control at PSA are largely unparalleled - it is almost irrelevant if you are last or first on the list so long as you can SAP. The only advantage the fo would have is in getting a better original line and some easier seniority based swaps.

SAP is only for round one line holders 51% of the company.

Reread his original post. He claimed it would be difficult for an FO to forfeit his qol by upgrading even if it meant being able to upgrade and hold round 1 (meaning access to SAP).

Upgrading/training out of seniority order? Hmmm sounds like a slippery slope

In my mind, if you were a pretty high seniority FO (by pretty high, I mean 1.5yrs like mentioned before) and you upgraded to CA, as long as you were a round 1 line holder, you could SAP down to 65 and have a bunch of time off, and with the higher pay, still make decent money. Provided money isnt a major motivator.

With all this direct entry talk, where is IOE at right now? January classes still?
