SAP didn't exist prior to the 2013 contract.

Thank you in advance.

The interviews consist of a 25 question test and a panel interview. Mine was with a pilot and an HR woman. I later found out that some of the information they gave me was incorrect, like how you can apply to AA outside the flow, while the pilot interviewing me insisted that you could not. Just beware of that. I was also told there would be a sim portion like they had done in the past, but no profile was given to me and I found out the day of the interview that there was no sim part. The 25 question test was the same as the ones in the past, so study the gouge. Honestly they can't find half as many pilots as they plan to hire, so as long as you look at the gouge you'll be fine. Best of luck!

Sorry to ramble...to answer your question, I have no experience with open houses or the interviews they give there, if any, however that was my experience at a formal interview just before Christmas. They give decisions for hiring at the interview. If you have the time, you'll get a yes or no. If you need more time they'll put you in a pool of accepted pilots

It is amazing how much the interviewing process has changed in the last 18 months. I know that they changed the written test (a new gouge is available, make sure that you have the right info), a few people have reported that they were made to do a sim, but only a few. At first, it was believed that they were street captains (DEC's) that they were making do the sim.

Also, for a few months, it was reported that only half of the pilots that were interviewed were hired. I know in my interview group, all were hired and showed up to class except for 1 guy, and he was really bad. My interview group was pretty good, though, with all experienced pilots that had no trouble with training or line flying afterwards.

It has been said that AAG is taking a more active role in recruiting and hiring at their WO'd regionals. They have set standards that have to be followed.

As of right now, I do not think it is too hard to get hired at PSA.

My advice, read the gouges on line, read "Everything Explained for the Professional Pilot" - cover to cover at least twice, go in with a clean suit or at least a shirt and tie, and act like you want to be there.

If they ask how you studied for the interview, tell them that you talked to people that had interviewed previously and read the gouges. That is an indication that you put forth some effort and want to be there. The written test is a game designed to see who puts time in before the interview to research the company.

Since the latest version of the SSP began in late 2013, zero pilots have been hired at American outside the SSP. The flow just started and zero pilots have been hired at American outside of it since beginning. You will run across the chuck jeager jr riddle grads with a dad that works at AA that will tell you in the they can get hired at American outside the flow, but it hasn't happened and I doubt it will.

Things were good when I was averaging 140+ hours credit every month with 14 days off and SAP trades processed in less than 5 minutes all day long. Those were the days. Now, the best you can normally do is 100 hours credit and 12 days off. Not worth it, I just stay at 65 block every month with 17 days off (including weekends off).
