At this point, we certainly do not have any backlogs in the training department, so it is possible. I will guess that we have the most LCAs in the industry (100+ with 1200 pilots) and a ton of sim instructor.

PSA has proven that they can get 60 a month through ground school and sims.

Thoughts? Would the speed at which you can complete training help make your decision?
And it said "are you stuck in training"? So basically PSA is telling people to jump ship somewhere else and come over?!

We are covering a lot of extra flying, and are really short on FOs. They don't want to keep you in training a minute longer than you need. We need people on the line ASAP.

Once we start getting in a large number of FO's, we will likely "unpark" the CRJ200's and take additional flying - as well as have some large upgrade classes.

What does "unpark" the 200s mean? I rode on one the other day. You are saying PSA has parked airworthy aircraft?

Sort of. Officially, they are spares, I think. "Permanent spares" They have been sitting for a couple months now. Others are in maintenance for new engines. But yes, we have several airplanes that are not flying "much" because we don't have the crew to fly them.

With the number of new pilots that we have coming to upcoming classes, we will be able to cover more flying, which will mean more captain upgrades and more line holding pilots.

That, and, and 35 more CRJ700's.

There are about 5-6 200's that are due for heavy checks or engine replacement. The company has chosen to delay due to staffing, so they're "parked" for now.

I never really thought about the "speed" of the training process. Since they're paying pilots a salary, it seems like it would be in the best financial interest of the company to get the pilots through training and on the line generating revenue.

This is true.

In late 2014, there was a training delay of 6-10 weeks after you passed your PC in the sim and when you started IOE. We were getting paid, but had a couple months off.

And speaking of salary, on the PSA website it touts a first year pay of $58,500. I just can't make the math work for that. They upped the pay to $38.50 so if you multiply that by 75 hours x 12 months, that comes to $34,650.00. So even assuming the $20,000 bonus (for time in type which most wouldn't have) that's still short of the $58,500. What am I missing?
