Good lord, how much additional flying are we having to do right now? We pretty much have zero reserves in CLT this month on the FO side. Someone just showed me the list. Wow.
CA side looks a little better, but how much flying are we having to cover of other people's?
Come to PSA and hold a line quickly - because there is already no one on reserve!

Well, I just hit the submit button on the PSA website app for an FO position. See what happens. I was doing it on pilot apps.com but I got stuck on their flight time breakdowns. I have too many logbook pages to be able to deal with that. I never figured out why the logbook makers and the FAA couldn't coordinate so that when you fill out an FAA form, there's totals for the questions in the logs. I guess electronic logs could solve that but I've never used one. Willing to try it though. Maybe something to do while sitting around on short call reserve...

I had a friend screw up a time on his United app. Because of it, he didn't get the job. If he had a good digital logbook, it would have printed out an "airline apps" summary with all of the times in it and it would have been spot on. Instead, he is at spirit now.

The electronic/digital logbook is great but it depends on your starting point. If you have to go back just a few years, it's probably not too time consuming but if you have more than a decade or two, it could be quite cumbersome. Then again you can just start using the app, with the hours you currently possess, assuming they are all in sync. Alternatively, there are services that can update everything for you at a cost.

I started my digital when I had about 1000 hours. Went back and entered them trip by trip. It was time consuming, but very much worth it. Someone with 5,000 hours, probably not worth it.

Well, I think I will convert to digital eventually, but not in the immediate future. I'm on my 5th logbook. It would take me a very lengthy period of time to log many thousands of flights, so I would want that time spent to be filler and not use up days that I could be doing something else. ie, if I were on a layover somewhere and had my computer and a logbook with me, I could log flights. I envision this taking place over a few months, not a long weekend. Once completed though, I can see I would have a very useful document for the future. I've been looking at digital options and haven't made a decision yet as to which would best meet my needs.

Have you seen PSAs newest recruiting gimmic. Get hired now, and be out of the sims and on the line by Christmas. Seems like a strange marketing ploy.
At this point, we certainly do not have any backlogs in the training department, so it is possible. I will guess that we have the most LCAs in the industry (100+ with 1200 pilots) and a ton of sim instructor.
PSA has proven that they can get 60 a month through ground school and sims.
Thoughts? Would the speed at which you can complete training help make your decision?
