We work in an industry where people just want to help themselves and move on with their lives. Trading QOL for higher pay and faster career progression would probably pass in my opinion, but the majority would never admit they're for it. Either way, I think we will have something big to vote on in 2017 which may, or may not include changes to the SAP.

You can't argue against the fact that the SAP is inefficient from a management perspective and great from pilot QOL. AA pilots now have PBS instead of their old line bidding SAP system and AA management has stated it will lower costs big time. AA has been pushing for PBS at Envoy for years and will get it with their 41st E175 delivery.
PSA's union has told the pilots they are creating a special committee to look into PBS. A recently passed LOA includes language stating the union agrees to sit down with the company and discuss possible restrictions on the SAP. With all the said, it's my opinion, the union might not be completely holding the line with our SAP.
I'm simply using facts to formulate an opinion. You can disagree with my opinion all day, but you can't argue against the facts.

Piedmont flow language or better, at least 15% pay rate increases for everyone and switch to PBS with a restricted SAP window would probably pass in my opinion. The company would gain big time with PBS, increased rates would help with hiring and retention and the increased flow would help both sides too.

In other words, we've got leverage.
Everyone just needs to relax a bit.

TYS - cheap living, no state income tax, and thousands of red headed college girls

CLT - only advantage is the ability to commute. Otherwise it is expensive, traffic sucks, and it's full of Yanks.

Can someone that's been around the block a few times give some input on pros and cons of the various bases
DAY - I think I may like this because small town and low cost of living but mostly 200 lines?
CVG - Smaller big city but how are the lines?
TYS - No hot reserve but other than that don't care either way about Knoxville or Tennessee
CLT - Biggest base & best lines ? mostly 700 and 900 flying ?
Did not put DCA on the list because I do not want to go there if I can help it.
So any input on the other bases - pros and cons as you see them
I plan to move to whatever domicile I get. The order of importance for me - reserve time, low cost living, ease of getting to base and decent paying lines. Of course those ideals are based off of being a total Noobie McNoobster so that's where ya'll experienced opinions are appreciated

The advantage (and disadvantage) of CVG is all of the 700/900 flying which is awesome until you have to go in for a checkride on a 200. Living in CVG you could easily pick up a 200 trip or two prior to eval time to knock off the rust.

I would advise you to commute for a few months and check them each out and make your own decision... my guess is that you will have enough of DAY after about 2-3 weeks of training. Select CVG as your first base since it is junior and hang out there for a few months until you can transfer to CLT or TYS. Who knows you might fall in love with one of them (or a beautiful redhead) along the way.

I've been kicking the can around if I want to move to TYS or just stay put. I've had several mainline guys tell me to stay since I'm one leg to ORD, DFW, DAL, ATL, CLT, STL, and MDW.

What is the hotel everyone uses for the commuter money ? I saw that the Marriott is $79. Just trying to stretch out that $500 I have budgeted for hotel rooms. $200 commuter + $300 in my old EWR Crash Pad.

Since you are going to be on reserve for a few months (potentially) I would tell you to get into a crash pad again as a commuter. The hotel reimbursement works for SAPers, less for RD 2, even less for LCR, and next to not at all for SCR. I'm sure there is a creative penny pinching (like myself) FO out there who has figured it out but the crashpad was a sure deal for me... when I was commuting.
