My inside source on JFK crew lounge activity tells me that the place is a mad house, mobbed with people, and lots of complaining and "F Comair" going on.
The atmospere at the GO has changed dramatically in the last three years with the most drastic being when cuts and furloughs came. Delta's new nonrev policy was just the cherry on top! There are less smiles, more grumbling. Though I did see a smile on the face of one of the HR lackies today. Wanted to smack it off when I walked by! He was just tooo happy. I know I'm moving up to Delta when something opens up, if something good opens up at Tech Ops.

For each married pilot missing his or her spouse/family while commuting, there is an unmarried one that is likely missing the opportunity to have a spouse/family due to the commuting lifestyle.

Both situations are equally frustrating. Although I'm sure unintentional, it is common for one to diminish another's situation by inflating the value of his/her own hardships while failing to recognize or diminish the hardships of his brother/sister.

Maybe the new nonrev policy isn't the cherry, it's just the banana.

We still haven't seen whipped cream, nuts, or the cherry yet.

anyone know whats with all of those 2 day trips in open time. They are all very similar trips. They look like maybe additional flying that was given to us after the bids closed. Flying another DCI carrier couldnt cover?

Or did someone quit and leave all those?

I doubt it's from someone quitting, those trips overlap. Example - The Monday/Tuesday trip and the Tuesday/Wednesday trip overlap.

Not that scheduling wouldn't assign trips that way.

Have you all heard about how the company tried to get a Flight Attendant to put a ticket from EWR to IAH this morning on her own credit card? I'm calling horse **** on that one. What is this place coming to? They also called her early and asked her to report 30 minutes later. (The company had over 48 hours to have a flight attendant ready this morning for a flight from IAH to JFK and called this poor girl at 4:30 this morning to displace her. She said the flight went out late while waiting for her to arrive on a Continental flight.)

Heard 20 something FA's quit already since May 1st.

Talked to a few guys today in CVG that didn't make their second attempt to get to JFK.

How many cancellations were there yesterday? Some were probably do to weather, but others were probably due to being understaffed, mismanaged flight crews and pure incompetence of the schedulers.

Rant over.

Just remember "Comair is adequately staffed for it's mission." - J.B.

The question that comes to mind here is "What exactly is Comair's mission? All they've been successful at over the last five years is failing to prosper."

Years ago the mission statement included words such as: growth, performance, quality, value, industry leading, and customer satisfaction.

The new mission statement includes phrases such as: be flexible, give more and get less, teach your family to expect dissapointment, our best days are behind us, we support those that decide this company just isn't right for them anymore, and "Hi, I'm your new CEO and lets take a look at your pay scale".
