Wow that was a shock. I knew things were bad but .... wow. Sorry to hear the bad news. I have a feeling that anybody with a a halfway decent contract is about to be asked for concessions. You guys raised the bar back in 02 and you are one of the primary reasons that xjt, skw, awac, horizon,... all have the payscales and work rules that they do today. This sucks..

Wow. I am touched by the outpouring of brotherly love, support and forgiveness of things that are ancient history exhibited here on this thread. It's enough to choke a guy up a little.
On a serious note, I don't care what bad blood there is in the past, this truly, truly sucks for everyone affected. And it's not just us in the pointy end but FAs, maintenance, rampers, agents...everyone who hung their hat at Comair. It sucks to be treated this way by a remorseless company whos decision makers would probably wet themselves if they had to deal with some of things we deal with day in and day out and I can't help but see parallels between Delta/Comair and Continental/XJT. Just like with Comair's inauguration of the RJ, the strike and industry leading contract followed by years of whipsawing and contraction at the hands of a vengeful mainline partner obsessed with cost cost cost, I fear this is another example of Comair being the canary in the coal mine. I think what you see happening here today could ring very loudly for the future of us all.
My buddy from college got furloughed from Comair last time around. I'll never forget him telling me what a relief it was to be rid of the DCI musical chairs game, especially at a carrier that always seems to be in the cross-hairs. Best of luck to all of you affected.

what goes around comes around...comair invented the crj...stealing most of our flying we used to do in 737-200, DC-9, etc...passengers on united, american, delta, usair, should only fly with mainline unless its a turboprop

You do realize the ones whom created regionals are the ones whom you are flying with and gave up scope for extra money into a 401k, pay scales etc? Moreover the ones getting let go from Comair are the ones whom are not the ones whom you want to point the blame at. Those pilots will still be at Comair, still in the Captain seat, and still making a living.... While those whom hit the street are the ones whom came into the industry in which was structured in a way due to Mainline pilots giving scope up and allowing it to form into what it is today? You would have done the same darn thing if things were different when you started. Get angry at the right people. Dont take this time to punch those in the gut that had no control over what you mentioned......

I thought Bombardier/Canadair "invented" the aircraft. A stretched version of the CL604....
Doing the flying that the mainline scope no longer protected... not a clear cut exact match to the word stealing
Here we go again... I would most certainly fly a turboprop at a major airline.
stealing most of our flying we used to do in 737-200, DC-9, etc...

There may be some merit to that statement but seriously crappy timing my friend!!!!!! Show some [edit:delete profanity] compassion

i like how there is a post against comair, and immediatly the retort is breaking up every sentence. Now, is delta the first one to relax scope and allow the crj to come on property (comair)? And another question, i missed it, where is all this flying going?
Last time I checked, after flight instructing you move onto a major....no no no hold the phone, make that a regional! If a major wants to hire me after flight instructing, please point in that direction [edit: delete insults]

well, it used to be turbo props and small seating capacity, not 70 plus seat jets flying all over the country. You start at a commuter, or regional, to build time. But regional is now used very loosly!

I read a press release somewhere that said that all of the flying would be picked up at mainline.
Thanks for being a good sport;-)
