So, you are saying a guy with less 121 experience then the next guy is always junior? That's not ALPA policy (at least not yet)
Some people are looking at it like outsiders are being integrated in THEIR list. This is not the case. If you look at it like a new community, all middle class citizens should remain middle class citizens in the new community. You may consider the next guy a lower class citizen because of where he came from but that does not mean he should be reduced to a lower class in the new community!

can anyone confirm or deny (preferably deny) that the Mesaba MEC sent a letter to the arbitrator (who then forwarded it to the Pinnacle MEC) arguing for XJ deserving better seniority because of the Jeff city and Colgan crash (safer airline should get better seniority)? I really hope this is a bs rumor I can't see any MEC stooping that low.

Hey Man I'm confused! If you were already on property on 1/18/2007 then why did you make this post on 7/21/2007.

Pinnacle potential new-hire question...
Hey guys, it seems I may have an interview for next month. If I'm hired, I'll try to see if I can get a early-to-mid September class date with Pinnacle.
My home is close to DTW, and I would love that so I can be homebased.
With the three bases, DTW, MSP, and MEM, I'm not concerned and am relatively sure I can get DTW immediately (or worse case, after a couple months).
My biggest concern is the new base for the CR9.
Apparently, it's suppose to be a west coast base.
Is there any word as to when they will allow pilots to pick the new base?
As a new hire, can I get stuck at the new base, and still try to bid back to DTW?
That questions hinges on whether or not the CR9 and the CRJ200 pilots will be the same for bidding purposes.
If, indeed, the CR9 is different for bidding purporses, and I get the new base, then that will mean I'm stuck for a loooong time.
If I take a class date mid September (assuming I'm hired), do I get to bid for a base immediately?
If so, when do I find out my base assignment?
Or do they wait until you finish the sim to let you bid for your base?
If I start September, finishing up sim would be around November/December, which is right when the CR9s start coming on line.
Let me know what you Pinnacle folks think. Thank you!
So how long have you really been at Pinnacle? What do you maybe have 4 months on me?

To answer your question, I've been at Pinnacle before you. Granted, I was in another field first. Meaning, I was sort of an internal hire as a pilot. Back then, they allowed us to work in certain positions like dispatch, crew sked, and while you finished up your ratings, you got a mini-interview (basically a guranteed thing) and you started as a pilot. By the time that post was made, I was already in at Pinnacle, and there's a difference between our class date and hire date. I wanted to know where exactly I stood as far as getting a certain base (DTW). Don't you dare judge me when you don't know a damn thing about me. As an internal hire, my time at Pinnacle was before Jan 18, 2007, when your sorry excuse of an airline was purchased by us. I went afterwards as an internal-hire into a Pinnacle class date. The interview wasn't even an interview, it was a formality basically.

I'm starting to wonder if some people don't even know what Relative Seniority means. I know some people can't stant the thought of having a person who has been flying for three years be next to them on a seniority list when they have been flying for 5 years. If your halfway up your list and you remain halfway up the new list why should you give a damn who is next to you on the new list?
It matters because I am an FO close to upgrade at Pinnacle, but if this relative thing goes through with Colgan, I could have many of them junior Colgan guys go above me in an upgrade on the CRJ on the 9E side. That's just what I need. A guy with 0 CRJ jet time, acting as my Captain, with only 2.5 years at Colgan as his actual airline service time, but 5 years relative time. Greeeeaaaaaat!

I have no information about any letter but as an XJ person, I would be ****ed if I was a 9e pilot and I heard this. I do know the guys on our committee and I really hope that isn't true.
I can't imagine what possible benefit this would give me...The only thing I can think of is some guys trying to stop the BS from 9e about the 3 for 1 or 5 for 1 seniority credit.
Honestly I hope there is no truth to this. I'd be embarrassed if we even discussed it, let alone actually sent the letter.
Now I wasn't here when the 9e guys came over to fly the SAAB's but I know that none of the ones I spoke to over the last 8 years have said they were screwed in the deal. Plus 3 or 4 of them are still here.
Good morning.

Because that 2.5 year Colgan guy is going to get the euivalent of 5 years at Pinnacle, and as a 4 yr Pinnacle pilot, he'd upgrade above me on the CRJ. How the fark is that fair?????????????

"Why doesn't the air conditioning work?"
"What's an EAS route?"
"Why are these passengers missing so many teeth?"
"What's that smell?"

Let me try to make a case for relative seniority as best I can. And how it really can't hurt someone in your situation. You said your close to upgrade right? Good.
Is it fair to say that on any pilot group you can divide the list by 2 and come up with a number that represents the halfway point? So when you get to that midway point your probably getting real close to upgrading right?
So for you to be close to upgrade you are probably near the 50 % mark.
If they go by relative seniority your STILL that close to upgrade!
I think a lot of guys are forgetting that not only are we growing the list we are also increasing the amount if airplanes.
Being 150 on a list of 300 is EXACTLY the same as being 1500 on a list of 3000. Don't focus on how many people are ahead of you. Focus on where you are on the list. There's a lot more airplanes and opportunities now.
