XJ 9E 9L SLI Thread

We have junior FO's with former 121 experience. That being said, I personally have no interest going over to the jet. But it will make for some high comedy when a jet FO upgrades in the Saab. I can already see it...
"Why doesn't the air conditioning work?"
"What's an EAS route?"
"Why are these passengers missing so many teeth?"
"What's that smell?"

That's the point of all this, you put in the time, you reap the benefits.

True enough, whether it be from their own decision, or by furlough/layoff. My point was to not necessarily get hung up solely on one's time put in at Colgan/Pinnacle/Mesaba, in the case of junior pilots.

If they go by relative seniority your STILL that close to upgrade! Close to a $54/hr upgrade compared to a $69/hr upgrade
I think a lot of guys are forgetting that not only are we growing the list we are also increasing the amount if airplanes. Props?
There's a lot more airplanes and opportunities now. More opportunities for less money in a base that you don't want to be in

Maybe I wasn't clear enough in my post. When I was talking about increasing the amount of airplanes I wasn;t talking about exansion (ie Q400 deliveries). I meant that not only are we combining seniority lists we are also combining fleets and ratio of CA slots to aircraft will stay the same.
My point is that if you are close to upgrading in the jet at 9E then you will still be just as close after the integration. It's all relative math.
Sure there is the possibility that a select few 9L guys may cross bid to a different a/c but it is not going to be that many. I'd be willing to bet that just like many 9E/XJ guys don;t want to come to our bases to fly a turboprop an EQUAL amount of 9L guys don't want to go to DTW or MSP to fly an RJ unless they live there.
I'd love to see someone actually run the three lists DOH and relative seniority just so we can see exactly what we are talking about. I'm sure it will raise eyebrows on BOTH sides of the argument.

It was not a conscious decision to change companies and my seniority was not necessarily rightfully lost. Please choose words more carefully, I'll gladly put in my time (again) but i'm not a piece of sh1t!
I'm not suggesting that anyone give people in my situation any specific thought with regard to the SLI but there are lots of us who certainly aren't low timers getting hired with wet commercials...
Rant over, continue

I really don't have a horse in the DOH / Relative seniority race as i'll be at the bottom either way, but I do take issue with the statement above. I was hired and furloughed from a supposedly decent regional, to be unemployed for 1.5 yrs and finally forced into taking a job at a different regional.

Seniority at any particular company has to do with when you were hired at that company.
I'm sorry you've hit bad times, I've been furloughed myself, but I didn't expect any seniority gain when I started at the company for any reason.
My whole point is, you put your years in any company, you get benefit for that fact.
I dont like the idea that someone just because they are higher relatively at company B may get a break on the years I've worked hard for.

This is about seniority.

Disclaimer: No dog in this fight.
Pilot 1 and Pilot 2 are new-hires together at Airline A (Pilot 1 is older/senior). After two years on reserve, both are furloughed. Pilot 1 finds work outside aviation while Pilot 2 immediately accepts a job at Airline B. One year later Pilot 2 is a line-holding FO when Airline B's holding company purchases Airline A.
Who has "worked hard for" more years? Who is "getting a break"? Which pilot should be higher on the combined list?
Don't necessarily have the answer. Just trying to illustrate that it's not as black and white as some DOH proponents would have you believe.
