I evidently need to collect a stud fee.
gosh, how are our NY bretheren doing tonight? Just tuned in to watch some mnf and its weather delayed and I mean its a hurricane delay.

thankfully carl has stumbled into the Best Of Big Bird pics to help us through.

Hurricane?

Lots of red lines going North South pre Alaska JV, then lots of green lines

Of course this is still a fraction of the 180+ departures Western had from LAX when Delta bought it.

Here's what Delta pilots used to fly North South from LAX pre Alaska JV:
LAX PDX
LAX SEA
LAX SFO
LAX BOI
LAX GEG

Cheers
George
Incorrect...these were all flown by ExpressJet.

LAX PDX
LAX SEA (except 1 mainline for a brief period)
LAX SFO
LAX BOI
LAX GEG

Several of these routes were not even DCI routes - ExpressJet flew them at risk (GEG, EUG, etc...) and Delta merely marketed the flights. ExpressJet even set the fares.

Yeah...I wonder who we have to blame for creating this monster!

Quote: This rings sadly of the NWA/Republic merger. I really don't want to go down THAT road, but unfortunately it would be nothing close to a merger of equals. And even if this ever happens, I still think the ploy of "super premium" was the stupidest thing I ever heard. Simply "widebody" would suffice in this case.
Ts,

I'm not sure if you are talking about a possible Alaska or HA merger, but if it was Alaska, I have a feeling you would be the first one to use the word "super." Why?

Because they would argue that there 737's are equal to our 757's and 757er's.

I think we would all agree that those airplanes and pilots are "super" and shouldn't be mixed with Alaska 737 pilots. Or, am I wrong?
Hi, first time poster here, Delta 2001 hire/furlough then mil-leave to now guy. I'm looking to retire from USAF and end mil leave, return to Delta around Feb 11. Need some advice on which plane and where.

I just looked at the new AE projected cat list and did some spreadsheet work. Here's the info:
1. Live in Phoenix. Want to stay there and commute.
2. Small kids, want to have max time home. Don't know if a line's predictability is better than reserve.
3. My percentiles I can hold from the AE projected cat list Apr 11:
LAX7ER B 96%
LAX37N B 88%
SLC7ER B 98%
SLC37N B 63%

MSP7ER B 79%
All 320 fleet B in DTW/MSP/SLC about 61%-66%
MSPM88 B 27%

So... What do I tell them I want to fly when I call in to rejoin? I'm leaning towards 7ER out of LAX, 96% and sitting reserve, but I've heard it's doable from Phoenix? The drive is 6 hours and there are like 50 flights a day PHX-LAX. But then I read on here how much reserve commuting sux, and I think maybe holding a SLC37N at 63% and a line would be better?

Any advice you guys might offer would be great, this is the first real reading I've done since the old furlough lists and I don't really know/understand the reserve requirements vs. lineholder advantages.
Thanks!

I think the term is hilarious and cliche, but I also have no shame in reusing it either.

Welcome back - I think it's great to be at Delta right now. I'm on reserve on the 7ER in NYC - so that's where my view comes from.

I'd pick the 73N in SLC - the ER is a nice plane and decent trips, but the reserve is tough. Short calls (max 6 a month) are a 24 hour deal. Typically in NYC I get 10am to 10am or 12pm-12pm, but they also throw out 5am to 5am at times (required two night in NYC to cover), so if you just sat short-call all month, that could required 12 nights away from home, just for the SC. The domestic planes are more of 12 hours on call, but I'm not sure.

One of the guys on here a lot, BuzzPat is on the 73 in LAX, he can fill you in on that. I think he's been going back in seniority also.

Having a line is really nice - you can swap trips, pick up more, drop trips, and generally have a better life than reserve. I'd also wager that a 73N lineholder would make about as much money as a 7ER reserve.

From Phoenix, I'd definitely go 320 SLC. Lineholder, short, online commute. LA on reserve can be a bear without a car, crashpads aren't the cheapest. Don't subject yourself to the M88 unless junior to me :-)
