I don't see it as a benefit sorry. Especially for reserve pilots. The pilots that have been on property for years deserve more! Record profits, outstanding completion factor and our reward is an additional 3k? Sorry pal, but I will do my best to spread the No vote!
I am not disagreeing with you man clam down........ I would love to see big pay raises, and the old JCB rates and better rsv rules and new aircraft and fast upgrades. But....... I don't think we will get them, even if we vote no.... Not going to lie was a little disappointed. When I saw the TA after our performance being better then deltassssss in NY and other places and busting our tail for them and all. I would love to see a kick back but don't think it will happen...

Quote: You can't be serious. It is the same problem we are all dealing with. Management needs to attract more pilots, so they sweeten the deal for new-hires while leaving the rest of the group with scraps. A large group will say "well if it helps get more people in class, it helps us all". This is a very short-sighted view as you are counting on movement and new hires to benefit the majority of the group. Sounds like a great idea until the music stops, or recruits dry up, or... you get the idea.

Am I close?

The reason I am adamant about this is because times have changed in the regional world. We are desperately needed so it's time to ask for more! Delta will not be able to cover all the regional flying, so unless they want more cancellations it's time to step up!

Dammit we are all professionals....it's time we start getting compensated like it.

I agree with you all RJ drivers need to standup... The problem is that no one has a pair to stand together and fight for it the greater good.... So the cut throat continues..... People are afraid for some reason...

Quote: I'm in favor of the TA. Getting new hires in the door is good for everybody. Getting more airplanes is good for everybody. If you're upset that they aren't just brining back the JCBA, add $25.55 to your hourly rate and see if that is more than your old JCBA rate. It certainly is for me! Guarantee is 900 hours/ year. $23,000/900=$25.55.

Delta is investing in us and our success. I'm not willing to just carte Blanche give them anything they want, but if we fight every step of the way we really WILL end up like Comair. Take the TA for now and it will establish baselines that our next contract negotiations will have to meet or exceed.
Delta is investing in Endeavor in order to buffer the effects on their regional system as they get as many 717s and eventually e190s to create their own feed. If you have gotten turned down by every major carrier and are destined to be a regional pilot I can understand digging your feet in, now is the best time to do it. Otherwise, you are in the best position a pilot could ask for in 30+ years so be happy and keep your apps updated! Being bitter right now is just foolish.

Quote: Well they could let us get a base at SEA or ATL or LAX or SLC all delta bases and 100 times better then NYC or DTW and all would benefit a lot of pilots looking for a better/easier commute!!! And all delta hubs!!!!!!
The NYC base actually seems to be popular with new hires. At least half of my class lived on the east coast and had LGA/JFK as first choice. Least popular base was MSP.

I don't think so, not only does this person know nothing about the TA, at all, they work for a carrier without representation that offers new hire only bonuses. I don't think that his/her post is the one you want to be championing.

I was skeptical at first but seriously what else do you want for showing up 15 minutes early? Convince me why this is such a bad deal again, what else do you want out of this deal?

I start in January and I'm hoping to get NYC, as it would seem to be an easier commute, but I'm sure I can make whatever work....after all, I'm a newbie and will take what's given. I'm sure I can get it eventually, with patience.

What is this item in the proposal that was posted that may or may not help reserve pilots? I've seen it argued back and forth in above posts, but not sure what it is.

Did they offer any -900 only classes? Sometimes in split -200/900 classes the -900 goes senior. Depending on where you are commuting from, DTW is a pretty decent option as well.

I picked (with the advice of my interviewers) the 1/18 class specifically because it was 900 only, thus increasing my chances of NYC. The 1/4 class is mixed and one of the folks I interviewed with picked that one.
