Me neither but it probably sounded something like “you should want this because you’ll spend more time in the left seat than the right seat”.

So it was OK that the FOs who voted YES! did so, but not the CAs?

Oh, and I was here for that and many more votes, and still can't understand their reasoning for voting yes. On anything (other than the SAV).

Why do the rates matter, shouldn't we be looking at Min pay per day or guarantee? DAL and UAL min is 5.25, or 21 for a 4 day. Y'all know what ours is. And monthly guarantee is 87 (avg,) vs 65 or 70 at DAL and UAL.

Almost 5% income more per day. And 5.3% more per monthly guarantee. I don't get the rate hang up...

Had a 28 year UAL 73 Capt on jumpseat who bid off the wide bodies and especially the 757 because he said the flying sucks. Sure, anecdotal but one data point. I've heard the same about DAL.

I am also concerned about rigs and min daily pay.

I have heard those didn’t change unfortunately….

I have a buddy at United who’s based in Orlando, does all his flying out of the Tampa co domicile.

he gets nearly an additional 300$ each pairing that he starts out of Tampa. Naturally he does all day trips now. Curious to see if we have something like that in our co domicile section

In short, there are three components to the "double-town" pay: 1. mileage, 2. drive time, and 3. per diem.

1. Mileage under current book is reimbursed at
"company policy" rate which is IRS mileage rate of 65.5¢/mile. MCO-TPA clocks in at 184 round trip.
$120.52

2. Drive Time in the new book will be multiplied by $30/hr. 2.5 hrs each way, 5 hour round trip MCO-TPA yields $150.

3. Per Diem uses the same drive time time as above.
Assuming 5 hours × new rate of $2.85 yields $14.25.

Total "double town" pay = $284.77

My Son now wants to stay at SWA instead of getting a job at a real airline like Delta (or worst case scenario, United). His brain is not fully devloped since he is in his early 20's... so I would imagine this 757 pay for the FO's and 737 pay for CA's will work on him. Why are some of you falling for the oldest trick in the book?

My Brother in Christ,

Please don't subscribe to the "squeezing the baloon" theory where if one part of pilot group gets something so another part of the pilot group has to take less.

Please endorse the "INFLATING the baloon theory" where EVERYONE gets more at the expense of the company. They have billions to give to shareholders so they can afford it for the people actually earning the revenue

If you are squeezing the baloon guy then yes it seems that the captains are crying foul. I assumed there were more inflating the baloon guys who want everyone to get more...espcially for the FO's who are younger and will have way less time at years 2-6 than years 6-40. Perhaps I misjudged and there are more squeeze the baloon guys.

INFLATE THE BALOON!!!

You will get an additional hour in your airport beater, park in the extreme remote super econo dirt lot and walk to the terminal. When you get done with your trip your car windows will be smashed in and a gator will be living in it.... because SWA negoiated the cheapest parking option possible.

So Im good then. I have yet to vote yes on a contract here. Plenty of FOs accepted those lagging rates.
