I am also disappointed with the loss of some of our work rules. Transition language that we have today is nice.
Work rules will not set me up for retirement. Actual pay in the bank will.
I'm a yes vote and in 4 years we can negotiate for even more cash. If we vote no, it could be 2020 or beyond.
Looking at the pay, I wonder if management just assumes we will vote no so they can continue giving themselves pay raises.

Things could be worse, we could have to wear this in public...

I’ll bet you my profit sharing check arriving next month that the new agreement includes pay, work rule, and retirement benefit increases on top of all that.

Well, we all have some idea: annual pay increases in the United contract which take effect Jan 1st of each year show that in 2019 a United 320 Captain will max out at $283.22/hour, plus the 16% 401k contribution. The UPA becomes amendable at the end of this year and both sides are aiming for an early agreement.

We don’t. Our NC has been butting heads with these a$$ holes and a mediator that sides with them almost exclusively.
If I was making $240 hr, had a 16% contribution and good LTD I would be a tougher guy as well.
But I don’t. I’m 49 years old. I make $72 hr with LTD that’s basically non existent, no direct contribution a scope clause that I’m waiting everyday to find out will cost us jobs and a mgmt team that doesn’t value us and a mediator that sides with them continuously.
I think the FO Pay sucks especially since PBS will now slow upgrades and keep guys as FO’s for extra years now.
But Spirit pilots are in a different spot than anyone else in the business other than probably Frontier. Even the JetBlue guys are in a better spot because there negotiating from a higher starting point.

Well your lucky then. If that’s all true than you have a mngmt that understands and values it’s pilots and what it means to keep them.

I understand that but something tells me the view out my window is much different than yours.

What if the SWA pilots, when TA1 came around, had said, "Well, this is a big raise compared to what we have now; who knows what we'll lose if we spend more time negotiating?"
They didn't. They decided they weren't going to work for a discount.
Very different from some of the sentiment on this forum, which hopefully represents the minority.
Bottom line: this TA is below industry-standard compensation with concession of work rules, which ensures that Spirit gets pilots at a discount for the foreseeable future. If Spirit doesn't want to pay for Airbus pilots, it shouldn't fly the Airbus (which it doesn't get a discount for).

Wonder how many of the NC will resign if this fails. Can’t say I would blame them. Work your butt off for everyone and you get comments like “turd”. Thankless job. That will delay things for a while.
