For a Major ULCC to pay that low first year just isn't right. That has to be fixed.
That's fine but that should be 100% on th company. They need to up the first year pay, we shouldn't negotiate for it. This place will have a turnover higher than any other Major if first year pay doesn't up.

So, THEY need to fix it, not us

Anybody use the flica expense report summary for their taxes? Were you happy with it? Any idea what the average yearly difference between Spirit paid per diem and the per diem owed on the expense report for a typical line holder is? Examples would be greatly appreciated. I'm right on the edge of breaking the standard deduction this year and debating whether it's worth it to spend the $50.

If you're going to break standard deduction without using per diem difference then definitely do it. You typically can claim about double in expenses in what you get in per diem. Meaning if you got 6k in per diem you can claim about $12k in expenses with $6 of it being tax deductible. Obviously your mileage may vary depending on where your overnights were but flica knows that. I've used EZ Per Diem in the past with good success but you will probably have to input all your overnights manually. I'm a standard deduction this year but will probably use the flica next year

So why negotiate for any pay raise? The same argument could then be made for the rest of the pay scale we have.

We need the pay for all positions and all longevity to be on par with the industry.

That's not true, those with less invested have an easier decision if offered another job, not the same decision when you have a few years in
