Quote: By the same logic, you would have to give people crap for dropping a trip in a transition conflict and picking up another trip in its place.
Exactly.......now your getting it! What is so hard to understand........helping the company is helping the company. I got a couple calls from scheduling with JA offers just like everybody else has I'm sure also (which I simply didn't answer of course). I did keep an eye on the trips that were open however, and was pleased to see that nobody else whor#d themselves out either! Of course you would have to actually have no life whatsoever if you went to work on Christmas day! But either way.........fly your line!!!

Quote: Anyone have experience with long call reserve?

How long of a call out is it typically?
Are long call reserve usually called before short?
Any thing else you can tell me about the way it usually works?

Just trying to imagine how it might affect me as a commuter. Never been at an airline that had it before.
It doesn't really change much. I heard there's Long call such as a rolling 12 hr window call out. At my last airline, we had long call that conssit of a "Window" from 9am-12am that you would check your schedule one. If there was nothing on the next day. You don't have to come in. For us, I see it as a "rolling" 15 hrs. Where they have to assigned something with at least a 15 hrs noticed. Most of the time they do that anyways. So it doesn't help us much.

Sitting reserve from home wouldn't help you much? I'm sure there's plenty of guys around who would love the opportunity to do that over a crash pad or dirty hotel.

aaaannd here's the problem. We compare ourselves to the last $(*&^%hole regional we worked for instead of comparing us to a real airline. You might try discussing this with someone who knows how a true long call works.

Re read my post... I said most of our trips are assigned 15+ hrs out anyways. Plus if you think that commutes are the ones who will get the long call you are mistaken. You will be surprise how many people who live in base will bid long call. Like I said I used long call before as a commuter, it's not as great as you think.

Wow someone asked if "anyone" has any experience with long call and how it works. I told the guy how it works and gave my experience . I guess I'm the ***hole. Please explain to me what a "true long call is" since every airline is different, and has it's own meaning of long call.

touchy touchy

I said $$%^&*hole regional. unless you're a "regional" you're not an ***hole. help me out here, do regional airline pilots take on a "regional pilot" complex? I didn't go from zero to Airbus pilot. I flew a wide variety of airplanes in a wide variety of operations and never once considered myself anything other than a pilot. I wasn't the operator I worked for, were you?

PS, I'm not a ULCC either. I am an Airbus pilot and expect to be compensated like one.

Someone is high and mighty tonight between the two threads. Glad you did everything the "right way"!

Merry Christmas!

Well my last regional didn't have trip averaging, it had block or better on a leg by leg basis. So I will gladly invite ideas that come from regional airlines that have better work rules than us! Hahahhaha
