Or maybe,….. it’s APA’s way of saying to all of those eager beavers, who are continuously chomping at the bit to pick up open time, premium trips, and volunteering for Check Airman duties and sim-fill slots, and bail out management at every turn for the sake of pocketing an extra buck,……. to STOP IT!!!,….. if you ever want a new contract!!!!
Maybe??? Yeah,…… maybe.
Maybe??? Yeah,…… maybe.

The leverage is here and we have it. Management will deny deny deny that we have it so people like you keep thinking that the fault is with the pilots picking up premium. Hate to break it to you, but with 15,000 pilots, we’re never going to stop unless given specific union guidance.
Who do you think the company likes more…me for flying 60 hours and getting paid 140 or you for flying 80 and getting paid 80?

Yes, but how many flights were “pre-cancelled” a month + in advance due to staffing? (Tens of thousands) How many pilots are going unqualified due to lack of check airman? (hundreds)

Noted and I respectfully disagree. I would agree with you on premium makeup, but not premium reserve. The ability to double dip and barely sit any days of reserve is the best and possibly only good part about our current contract.

Actually, you're wrong, as usual. You can't involuntarily staple an acquired labor group, but they certainly can agree to it voluntarily. Usually how they are convinced to agree to that is the threat of a shutdown or dissolution of the deal. Ask the AirTran pilots.
AA and APA could certainly offer the WOs a take it or leave it staple deal, and if they turn around and demand integration, the deal goes away, and their flying gets transferred to SkyWest, Mesa, and Air Wisconsin. Checkmate.
So yeah, you can still staple people. You just can't force it on them anymore like TWA.

One large problem with your statement. APA does not decide if there will be a merger or not. The American management will decide that. If they decide to merge your feeders you can’t force anything. In the case of SWA management worked with SWAPA to force the issue just a they did with the Frontier merger. Do you think management is going to give you veto power on a merger. I suspect not.

I disagree. You getting paid 150%, 200%, heck 300% is still saving them A LOT more than a CBA. As long as trips are covered our leverage is less. APA can't tell you not to fly open time trips, PR, or OG.

Not to point fingers, but I'm always curious as to the situation one is in where they don't go for premium...I'm assuming you are not a local on a narrow body fleet, is that correct? My point being that those who hate on the pilots picking up premium usually have a reason why they are unable to and because of that, come off altruistic in why they don't pick it up.

We're all entitled to our opinion. I will absolutely continue to bid short call and pick up PR. Your'e describing a utopian pilot group which doesn't and never will exist. Are delta pilots not picking up green slips? How about United? What gets us a new and industry leading contract is following the contract to a T. That's what I do.

I will agree that following the JCBA is a must. Unfortunately some don't, which is a problem.
