I do like long-haul stuff. Some airlines want recommendations from guys that have flown with you. Yes, many of those are at Atlas, I don't know anybody at UPS, Fedex (don't qualify because of overseas employment anyway).
I cannot afford the regionals. There is a minimum paycheck that comes with growing children and the need to build a retirement. I know first year pay sucks, but if I can break 50k then I am good.
If you think nothing can be worse than Atlas, think again. Hauling 110 tons of don't-need-to-be-declared lithium batteries from China or bringing cows and other wild life into a war zone, economy travel on the cheapest airlines via multiple stops, 2 and 3 star "hotels"...

The current state of affairs is not good. Seeing the bonuses that have been allocated to just a few, the unwillingness to negotiate a contract, heck, even trying to go back to a worse contract. Having been at several airlines that all went belly up rather quickly I am worried about Atlas' fate. Yet you never know. USAirways should have gone belly up, yet they bought America West and came above water again until AA bought them. There are a few more. So all hope is not lost...yet.

I understand now that the computer system is making the decision before hr gets involved with it, and sends the tbnt email.
Be advised you'll make somewhere between $38,000 to $60,000 first year (not counting per diem) here at Atlas. You can count on training pay for your first 4 months, then it's a crap shoot when you get off of OE. What, you want to pick up open time trips to help supplement that first year pay? Sorry, you're not senior enough to hold them so that's not going to happen either. I doubt that I break $50K here my first year, I'm currently at $16,433 6 months in....

This has me wondering if this isn't a preconceived "tactic" to insure these people have no option but to remain at Atlas. Pretty soon you'll need a DUI to get hired so no one else will take you.
And we all know how rumors are. 5/24 (20.8%) pink slipped. That IS still a high number. But... One stalled on downwind on the 2 engine visual. Others busted FAR's. While it is unfortunate, these were not DE's sabotaging careers.

Also, the PIC PC for FO's only changes ONE thing on that PC: FO's now have to do a right seat rejected takeoff. That's a requirement from FSDO. The 2 engine inoperative visual is not a change.

Less than $50k during your first year...to fly a B767 or B747?! That is unbelievably outrageous. Sometimes I question why I became a pilot....

Minus the economy class, this is exactly what life in Atlas is like. I flew an animal charter and countless batteries (and every other Haz imaginable) out of China in the past 30 days. If you want to see our luxury hotels Google 5 Town Inn that we stay at in NYC. You know you've hit rock bottom when you get your 74 paycheck while staying there.

Actually, it is a change. Previously the 2 engine inop visual was only done on the type rating ride and PIC PCs. FO PCs did not include a 2 engine inop visual...it had a 1 engine inop visual(with no electronic or visual G/S aids as I recall), which is being replaced with the 2 engine inop visual beginning the 22nd or 23rd of this month.

Hey I love the 5 Towns all the coffee cake you can eat, access to a great gym, and they would pick me up at 2AM at the train stumbling back from Manhattan, don't forget the Bayhouse, what type of freight dog are you ? : )

Hey guys can somebody confirm or deny if Atlas has that "must have not left the USA for more than 6 months within last 5 years" rule? (similar to that of UPS and FedEx)

Totally unrelated, BUT, being that the spirit of this thread is information for guys to decide wether to leave the regionals or whatever job they may be at, I wanted to share this.

I'm four year 747 FO pay. My small paycheck of the month (half of guarantee no per diem) is $2049. This means as an FO on fourth year pay, if I take my two weeks vacations the way God intended, that is, maximize days off, I make $4100 dollars for the month. If I do my PC on days on, conflicting my pattern, as God intended as to preserve ALL my off days, I'm looking at a third month of $4100 dollars for the month + a bit of per diem. There's one way and one way only to make money at Atlas, and that is to work above and beyond what would be required of you to work at a real airline and above and beyond what is healthy to work. Only then will you not be ashamed to compare W2s with your buds at the majors. Just omit the part where you work three times as much. It used to be a no brainer to leave the regionals for Atlas. I honestly don't think that is the case anymore. IMO.
