Reserve for Dummies

Anything beyond 10 hours is 117 legal (assuming other maxes & mins are met). Thats why the absolute minimum is 10 hours after starting LC—generally 1000, but possibly any other time of day in the case of a PR.
While the PWA generally provides for longer notification periods, it also provides specific exceptions. This is one of them.

Your status when they assigned the rotation is meaningless. What matters is your status at the report time of the trip. At midnight on the morning of Dec 1 your "rest" is momentarily broken and if there is any report on your schedule that day before 1800 then you are considered to have been notified.

BL, the only time you get 1800 “protection” on your first day of reserve LC is if the preceding day is vacation. Being a “regular pilot” is irrelevant, and does not get you any extra time off on the first day of LC.

The controlling fact is status at time of report. In that regard, yes you are a Reserve pilot (on 1 Dec).

This is not completely true. Anytime you are coming off a day other than a non-fly day you get the 1800 report protection. If a REG pilot finishes a trip on the last day of the bid period that is not a non-fly day. Also, any day that contains training (primarily this will be CQ), is also not a non-fly day and gets protection.

I recommend you check out PWA 23.M.6.b to see why you are a "Reserve Pilot" in this scenario....key words "projected status at the time of report for the rotation being covered"
