go skiing, golfing. Leisurely do errands. Always felt I was getting away with something Tuesday morning on a hike when everyone else was at work.
NYC ER A has been nice the last few years almost every day I can do that regardless of whether I’m on an X day or reserve.

I really never minded working weekends and having weekdays off, especially on reserve when you might not even work weekends.

I have a family owned track but that is about a 3 hour each way drive in upstate NY, and I can basically ride Southwick, MX23 or BRO most days with a couple phone calls unless it's prepped for a race or another private event, but again, 3 hour each way drive.
Mountainbiking at what used to be Action Park in Vernon NJ is pretty awesome on a random weekday though.

Please note there is no required schedule check coming off a non-fly day. What is required is that you must make yourself aware of any assignments that report between 10 and 18 hours after the start of LC. That wording is a key distinction. There are several ways to determine if such an assignment has been made without viewing your schedule (on icrew or micrew) and seeing any future notifications. The easiest places to check are the SC Assignment History to see if you've been given a SC assignment, and the Daily Trip Coverage page to see if you have a rotation. You could even have a friend look up your schedule and send you a screenshot.
As others have said, when you view your schedule in icrew, any future rest assignments in that bid period would have to be seen, and I don't see a way to argue that you weren't aware. Future bid period rest periods can remain unknown until you either choose to self acknowledge or are required to view your schedule on a post-rotation schedule check, or a scheduler calls to properly notify you. I haven't tried using the IVR to see if it notifies you of a future rest in the current bid peiod, but I'd assume that it would.

I do now have a SC assigned. So I will have to call them before starting SC and let them know they never gave me 30/168 even though I'm sure they'll push back, and say the computer says I have 30/168...

Oops, I mis-typed and my last day as a REG in the prev month was finishing a rotation then first day of Oct was a LC day. My understanding is I have zero obligation to check my schedule or be contactable on that day I finished my rotation during a REG month. So I've had no time when I was required to check my schedule and make myself aware of an assignment (until my Xday of course).

As for the SC, need more info. have you been on LC since the 1st? Or have you had an X-day in there somewhere?

PWA 23.S.A.18 has the definition and examples of Hard non fly day.
Golden days are only important when going from reserve INTO the golden day.
Golden X day means nothing when coming OFF the xx day and starting your block of on call days
The only non fly day exception to being assigned something 10-18 hours into the start of your on call days is when coming off vacation (which does happen to also be a hard non fly day)
