Is there supposed to be some kind of notification? And is it supposed to be designated specifically as 30 hrs since the Rest appears as a 6 hr block + 24 hrs off.

Also can they remove that 6 hrs or rest off my schedule if they subsequently decide to use me on a rotation that releases after 1800?

Thanks!
If you choose to self-acknowledge the rest, then that is a legal 30 hour rest period. If you finish a rotation as a reserve pilot in the bid period and see the notification on your post-rotation schedule check, even if the rest is weeks later, I'd say that constitutes notification. If you do that schedule check with the IVR and it doesn't tell you about it then you are not notified. Outside of that, you must get a call from a live scheduler notifying you of the rest period no later than the start of rest (if you answer your phone) or two hours prior to the start of rest if you don't answer your phone.

As it turns out, I think some/many folks were just find being treated as airport standby, so long as they are getting paid extra to do it. Just saying. The fact that it disincentivizes the company to willy-nilly reroute folks may actually be the ancillary benefit, not the driving force behind the change.

Couple of instances on the FB scheduling page of very quick SC assignments to DH flights near the end of the SC RAP. For example a 1200-1800 SC, notified at 1750 for a report of 1751 for a DH. Obviously can't make it, but still "legal." Once at the airport and the DH is gone scheduling reroutes to a later DH (which I'm sure was the plan all along).
This is a great point.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe a pre-posted rest in a future bid period will not show up as a notification when checking the current bid period's schedule. You have to check the future bid period's schedule to see the notification for the rest (which is not required during your pre-release schedule check???).

Yes. You will not see any future bid period notifications (for REG or RES) in icrew when you view the current bid period. It is scheduling's job to still then notify you of that rest or you'll see it in that future bid period if you finish a rotation then.

Same reasoning behind soft pay (EDP, Sit, etc). People now bid to get the extra pay when the idea was to rein in optimizer.

You mean in a 17,000 strong pilot force, different pilots can actually have different views on what does and does not work for them professionally? Who'd a thunk that? If pilots are bidding otherwise crappy trips because they want the soft pay then in a way aren't we limiting exposure to these types of trips to those that actually want them? Kind of like how reserve used to be horrible everywhere, but now in some categories it goes quite senior. I even remember reading a post once stating "something is wrong if pilots actually prefer to bid reserve."

FA works rules already says NYC FA on A days have 3 hours to report…so since they “negotiated” it doesn’t that mean the company has to give it to us too?!?!

I’m for leaving it gray….

Sometimes I use it as a motivator for a YS. I'm super junior and will get called to fly a garbage trip anyway, might as well get some extra pay out of it. But I agree I'd prefer those rotations not even exist in the first place.

Default Credit from IVDs towards RAW?

Had a batch of IVDs earlier in the month. Unlike normal vacation, we do not get credit for this time towards RAW score? Did get reduced short calls required down to 4, but nothing towards raw score/group.

Is this correct or a glitch?
