Yes, it is now up to you to ask to be released. (this was changed to keep Res GS pilots from losing GS pay) 23.L.3

They can reroute you in to a domicile, which reserves must ask to be released from, but I'm pretty sure they cannot award you a domicile.

NY Based and near the bottom on the totem pole FO sitting Reserve. I have gotten several rotations assigned with domicile layovers in the past two months. Is asking to be released only for reroute? Mine were initial rotation assignments.

Been a couple years but my last year on the 320 was under current contract. NYC based and they'd often act like a JFK layover when you originated in LGA wasn't a domicile layover. Sometimes to my advantage (was a commuter).

I've never been able to find exact language that says they are illegal, but DALPA put out an alert during COVID stating they were. See COVID-19 Latest Information 20-09 on the Delta ALPA site. Searching the PWA for layover, break-in-duty, break in duty (why it's used without the hyphens is typical Delta) doesn't bring anything of use up. The SRH does reference that being rerouted in to a domicile layover would result in a domicile layover being legal "in this instance." One could surmise they are otherwise not. Pg 141.

If they were co-terminal layovers, they are legal if they fall under 12 O 3.

If doing a carry out GS on RES going into a REG month, do you receive an extra PB day in the bank for the 9 hours duty free the company can't give you or is it just the number of PB days interrupted?

Is a GS reporting DEC 31st due 1 or 2 PB days?

One. You only had one X-day interrupted.

Assigned an illegal rotation a day before but during next day short call period. What’s the consensus? Wait until short call begins to call them out in hopes they’ll remove it? Report and hope for reroute? It seems the rotation is repairable…. So calling too early may result in a “oh hows it look now…?”
