Assigned an illegal rotation a day before but during next day short call period. What’s the consensus? Wait until short call begins to call them out in hopes they’ll remove it? Report and hope for reroute? It seems the rotation is repairable…. So calling too early may result in a “oh hows it look now…?”

if before sc they’ll just eliminate the sc or fix the rotation, right or will they just take it off? After sc but before report then they are stuck with my rap and maybe still just fix the rotation? After report then if they fix it, it’s reroute pay. Does this jive with the hive?

ok. But let’s just say it’s illegal. The question is when to bring it to their attention? Before SC begins? After? After report?

Weird edge case reserve question…
- Legally converted to a 1100-1700/Day A short call. I invoke 2hr non-contactable to facilitate my commute which would mean I am not contactable until 1300/Day A (or I check schedule/tell scheduling).
- During my 2 hour non-contactable period (1230/Day A) upon arriving at my base, I officially check my schedule and see a trip reporting at 0620/Day B along with several missed calls/voicemails from 1110ish regarding this trip.
- At this point, it was less than 18 hours to report from when I checked my schedule and scheduling had terminated my SC at 1220 (while I was non-contactable) to fulfill the 18 hour duty free requirement.
- Was that a legal assignment? I feel like the grey area centers around the phrase, “During their period of unavailability, the pilot assumes responsibility for acknowledging any rotation placed on their line.”
Resolution - I called scheduling and asked them about it. My main point was that they ended my SC at the required time but did so without my knowledge since I was non-contactable and therefore couldn’t know until the time had already passed. Scheduler talked to supervisor and they removed the rotation. But I’m not sure if I just got lucky or if this is the correct answer.

Watching the daily trip coverage is painnnnful today. Been on SC for the first time in a while. I had a YS in for a 4-day I was perfect for. Rather than assigning it to me They busted it up in to two days and now a Frankenstein of 1-day rotations and they just keep going in and out of coverage as the WS process plays out. Going on for hours now.
I would rather have had the 4-day and they would have had it covered. Now it will inevitably go to IA /RR as we get inside of 60 minutes to report. Pure stupidity
