It shows how little the company cares about Sick Look Back. They would rather pay 400% for a trip than have it go late.

I wouldn’t mind SS if there was a common counter with GS and QS, and if there was something to prevent a pilot from getting more than one SS in a PCS run

Silver Slips reduce premium pay for all pilots in category, and reduce PB days. They can go away this next contract.

She said yes, she was asking, and if I didn't take it, the rotation would have to go out as an IA...... My question are they allowed to even ask. This sounds like fishing to violate the PWA and find someone that will go above and beyond....

For those of you that sit RSV, is this normal these days? Never had this happen in my 11 years here. Granted I don't sit reserve much these days....
If scheduling *could* give you the trip, they would just do it....so if they are asking, they are 99.999999% violating the PWA.

File STS to let sched committee know and send email to your Reps too!

SS need to go away completely. Even with a leveling mechanism, they still reduce pilot count by preventing reserves from using them. Anyone remember back in the day when GS would go out quite early, like 12 hours prior?

So let reserves use them (with PB days). Why does nobody suggest this?

That defeats the purpose of silver slips (to reduce PB days).

Exactly this. Also, give reserves the same guarantees when a trip noops.

There's 2 big issues I see with just adding RES ability to SS. The first is that for REG, half of the pay is pay and credit towards the WS pickup limit, so a similar thing for RES would be single pay and credit towards RES guarantee + single pay no credit on top of guarantee. But then that would mean no PB days since the company wouldn't give RES 3 benefits and REG only 2. If you just gave RES single pay/no credit + PB days (just like a GS) then I don't think it would be as fair to REG pilots who wouldn't even be eligible if they don't have the WS pickup limit available. In the same vein, as currently setup the WS pickup limit is the pseudo-leveling mechanism, but that limit does not apply to RES. If you did a pay/credit and pay/no credit with no PB days then I guess ALV +15 (the max RES can fly) could technically be a leveling mechanism, but again that's generally not fair to REG since most RES almost never run into that limit.

So, the easiest path out of this is to just eliminate SS (which also has the side benefit of stopping the company from blocking trips being washed with PB days). Alternatively, another solution would be to turn SS into long-notice GS. SS and GS would share a counter and pay exactly as GS currently do for both REG and RES. But that really defeats the whole point of SS from the company's perspective because they are trying to cover trips without using RES pilots or giving RES pilots the opportunity for premium flying + PB days.
