Just took a look at Dec 23M7 log for my seat and noticed there was an entry for a rotation that I was assigned while sitting Short Call. Interestingly, my FO for this rotation was also sitting SC and there is no entry on the 23M7 log for it on the FO side. What gives?

They could have got through the coverage ladder to properly assign him a SC, while they did not with you. Could be that there were less WS/OBWS on the F/O side to go through, or people declined them faster, etc.

Or they didn't log it correctly.

To add a few more words…you’re not contactable the ENTIRE CALENDAR DAY for CQ days, which some people misunderstand. Even if you have an A period and fly home before supper, don’t ack anything before midnight unless you know what you’re doing and you have good reason to.

To add a few more words to TED’s more words…it’s the LATER of midnight that calendar day OR 9 hrs after the schedule debrief time (local) or 9 hrs after scheduled positive space flight blocks in (commuter)

To clarify the bold part, the positive space flight applies to pilots not based where the training is taking place (either ATL or SLC). Their training rotation will have a PS flight “built” from their base to ATL/SLC and back. That scheduled flight is what the 9 hours is based on. It doesn’t matter if you don’t take that flight and instead take a different flight either to your base or to the city of your choice.

Default off rotation DH minimum turn time

What is the minimum turn time required to book a front end deviated DH, specifically when the company's rotation has a DH scheduled to arrive with a very short turn?

I know the obvious reference from PWA 8.E.5 and FOM 13.2.2 that match each other at 60/90 minutes domestic/intl.

I have a fuzzy memory of an email or update that said as long as the deviated booking arrived with the same amount of turn time or greater, then it was safe. Using the references above a pilot would need the 60/90 minutes regardless of how short the company scheduled turn time is.

Anybody remember that, or am I making it up?

You are not making that up. As long as you have 60/90 for domestic/intl, you are ‘covered’. BUT, be smart with leaving yourself 2 minutes to get from gate to gate, or winter weather, etc. Delays could get you a phone call (30 minutes to scan ‘on’ is the FOM minimum, which I would never plan to).

How about if the rotation DH has a 30 minute turn, and the deviated DH has 59 minutes? No good according to the FOM even though it's more conservative.

If all goes well, I don't think anyone in the system would even know. I suppose you could successfully argue to a CP if somehow it came up (like if Wx delayed you). If it were me, and there was an option that gave me an extra hour or two, I'd do that.

Hardly ever sit reserve, but I'm on RSV this month and had something interesting take place. 5 minutes into SC yesterday and I get a call from CS for what I assume is to assign me a trip. The scheduler asks if I would take a day turn (I have 3 days of availability) that reports in 30 minutes. I clarified she was asking not assigning me. She said yes, she was asking, and if I didn't take it, the rotation would have to go out as an IA...... My question are they allowed to even ask. This sounds like fishing to violate the PWA and find someone that will go above and beyond....

For those of you that sit RSV, is this normal these days? Never had this happen in my 11 years here. Granted I don't sit reserve much these days....
